Firstly, ignore bad behaviour and do'nt try and pick him up, do'nt even make eye contact. If he is being loveable reward him and try to approach him, otherwise teach him that naughty behavior gets him nowhere.

I read somewhere that grape seeds contain something which prevents and stops feather plucking. Sanjay actually prefers the big seedy grapes to the smaller seedless variety. Look for "Globe" and similar varieties, but do'nt let him eat them all the time, he needs variety.

Sounds like territorial agression to me, try moving his cage to a different part of the room or another room for a while. Attacking toys is something they do, Sanjay loves beating his toys up!.

Sanjay used to chew his talons when I first had him, but stopped after a while and has'nt done it since. I wondered if it was boredom and/or stress. His cessation coincided with learning to forage and a bigger cage he could actually fly around in.

Sanjay has a huge cage, so we bought a king size black sheet, it's cotton as our flat is centrally heated in winter, it's easy to wash and lets air circulate.

Give him a bit of space!, he must feel really "got at" not to mention confused. As for the guy who struck him, I would have been absolutely furious, "spitting feathers" as we say in the uk. Let your bird get over the trauma and treat him gently and quietly.

Sanjay prefers fruit and veg with the addition of walnuts and roasted peanuts in their shells. We had Sanjays cage in our west facing bay window, on the north side. He was noisy answering the wild birds and managed to splatter food on the curtains etc, so we moved him into the al alcove. He is much quieter and interacts with us more.

Sounds as though it is linked to wing clipping. Personally I do'nt agree with it, but I would not give a clipped bird the opportunity to fly and then have him clipped again.

Do all IRNs love music like Sanjay does?, he chortles along to anything with a beat, and whistled toons really float his boat. He listens too, and then not long after he gives us a few bars. In fact he prefers this to talking.

I left sanjay to settle in for a few days. I sat beside his cage and talked to him, sang nursery rhymes, and moved slowly and quietly when i cleaned the cage and put fresh food and water in the cage. Your chickster could be angst biting.

O, why wo'nt your mum allow you to have a bird?, is it because,as with any pet it's a huge commitment? You are looking at a 20 to 30 yr commitment.
