Yeah as courtney says, once they settle with each other with cages side by side, put them together in a cage big enough for them to escape each other if the moods get the better of them. Even the best bonded friends get testy and there will always be one dominant bird (usually female over male) if t...

Yup definately doing the male thing with the ball, he is showing the ball how beatiful he is and what a good breeder he would make, trying to woo it and also feeding it to show how well he would feed it while on the nest. He may also just be practicing, as I am sure he knows full well this is not a ...

Yep you can do it yourself, once you have researched it properly and watched someone with experience do it first. I watched a breeder and then a vet. I now clip my own fids with confidence and also get called on by family friends and neighbours to do their birds. There are all kinds of things to kno...

well 3 - 6 month old can still be a handraised bird. If it isn't you may have your work cut out for you as it could be rather wild, parent imprinted, especially if it hasn't had any human contact. well I would think if you want a pet, you would be buying a handraised baby, so the bird will be very familiar with humans. A box that the shop or breeder gives you for travelling will be good. When you get the baby home, I would place him/her straight into the cage, place food and water in. Keep th...

Leo are you asking if you can bath the bird ? Some birds like to bath, so supplying a bowl for them to bath in can be good, mine don't seem to take to it so I spray them with a spray bottle until they are rather wet all over, they love it. They shake their feathers and hold out their wings, then pre...

Billy and Bell the Quaker Parrots I had ...
Some of you may remember when I got my pair of quaker parrots Billy and Bell, they came across from Adelaide SA. I didn't have luck breeding them, billy was tamer than bell, but I wouldn't separate them just to have billy as a pet, I got them as a pair. So, I gave them to the local breeder, on the c...
