Hi BuksV

Welcome to the forum.
Nice collection of IRNs !

Let us know once you find out more from Johan's contact regarding these birds you have if they are Progressive Pieds etc.
I hope you paired them up to breed this season.

This morning I had to fix the perch & reluctantly checked the nestbox of the blue/chf x young Edged EmeraldBlue while there only to find to my surprise 3 eggs in the nest
Didn't expected the hen to lay as she looked rather young and not ready i thought.

Hi BuksV, Your birds do not resemble any known mutation that i'm aware of. It could be that it is an acquired mutation however, more often than not it is related to nutrition, the the type of feed that you use, it could be a deficiency of some sort. Make sure you give them a complete feed inc. pelle...

One needs to understand that opaline does not make the wildtype head darker. The head colour stays pretty much the same, but the body colour, esp. just below the neck ring, is considerably diluted. Well said & I agree. I was caught up in justifying the head color difference but otherwise same l...

Hi Todd, Nice bird you got there. It is a shame that little work has been put into edged, misty or cinnamon in the last 10 years by breeders. We have 4 birds in below pic.
All 4 carry Emerald & Dom. Pied mutations
Bird's sex: L 2 R: Male; male i think; Male; Hen

It is obvious the first 2 have a diff. phenotype compared to the last 2.

Why do you think that is?

It is very possible.
In fact in Australia 90+% of green ringnecks are split for Blue, it is rather rare to find a green not split to anything.
That includes grey greens as well.

Hi,

You have there a beautiful Grey Ringneck

Normally Ringneck's sex can not be determined till they are mature , males have a neckring females don't
You can also DNA Sex it to determine its sex.

One can only guess otherwise, guesses are give or take 20% accurate.

Although best practice is to DNA sex them or wait & once mature males will get a neckring except Albino and some other rare mutation combinations, white colored IRNs, Rec. pieds.
Normally one can not tell for sure ringneck's sex when young unless Surgical or DNA Sexing is done.
