Thanks Shirleybird and Rod038.
I leave the nestboxes in & the pairs together all year round. I find sometimes in the middle of summer a couple of the ringies use the nests during the day, maybe to escape the heat?

Coming into breeding season, I feed my birds vetafarm breeder pellets, seed, fruit/veg and sprouted seed. Once babies arrive I increase the fruit and veg to twice a day as the chicks grow and require more food, also add egg and biscuit every second day. I also pick grass and seeding grass that pops ...

Welcome miasmum.
You are right, there is not alot of info out there for ringneck owners and alot of what is out there, is quite negative about these fantastic birds.
I love the name Bam Bam, very cute.

Such a shame when a gorgeous bird is classed as a pest....just doesn't seem fair although I can understand competition for native animals food, nests etc if a bird does escape, but still sad.

Some birds suffer from 'night fright' and go crazy in their cage, cockatiels are renowned for this. Maybe something scared him and as he could not see, fluttered around his cage in fright. Anything can trigger it from a mouse in the cage, shadows, or even if they fall of the perch in their sleep. I ...

Jasper (lutino IRN) has finally had a successful clutch of chicks. First 2 hatched yesterday (11 Sept) and the 3rd today. 2 have red eyes and if all is correct with the genetics I was told the male was, the 2 red eyes should be male pallidinos. :D http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r205/pinkdevil_/2...

Hi miss lacey loo. It is great you had taken the time to research owning such a great bird before actually taking the plunge. I would say if the change in behaviour is very noticeable then a quick trip to a vet might be in order. Birds try to hide illness as long as possible and when they DO show signs of being sick, it is usually quite serious. Is s/he off food at all? What colour is your bird? Is he/she loosing feathers ...
