You need to read more on this site but sit next to the cage, eat your meals next to the cage and talk all the time but DO NOT try and get the bird to respond to you, let your bird go at his own pace.

Vegetables are good for birds too but like children my parrot refuses to them but she will try some from time to time. Apples are a safe bet, and my hen adores pears, it is trial and error a little and often.

It takes a lot of time and patience to help a young bird settle down, read all you can on our site you will find all the info you need, but sit by his cage with the cage door open, eat your meals in front of him gradually he will settle down and even come out but you must be patient.
