MissK, thanks for adding that. Our vet suggested that warm, mushy foods are similar to regurgitated foods they would receive from their mate.

Hi liljo Increasing foraging will help. There are several good threads on foraging on this forum. What foraging will do for you is make your bird work for its food (which is what birds do in the wild) which will keep it stimulated and it's brain active and it will make humans the easy way to get foo...

Hi liljo The caution you've described is normal. It is definitely related to fear. It is good that your bird feels it can fly away even when clipped because otherwise your bird may bite your boyfriend. Your boyfriend needs to concentrate on making Roscoe feel comfortable and safe whilst he's around....

At the risk of instilling fear in you, our avian vet had a quite big bird brought into the surgery one day that had its head caught in one of those after he had learnt to unscrew them. Janey was lunging when she got annoyed with me for giving her treats because she was already full. Foraging does a lot more than just that. It also prevents boredom and related behaviours and is a very "birdy" thing to do. In the wild, birds spend lots of time foraging for food. More infor...
