Re: What is this dark Violet?
Johan The youngster is a new acquisition from Hans Meyer's collection, I acquired it to try and strengthen my own gene pool's melanistic factor and deep gene. On close observation, she appears to have a violet sheen to the body but with cobalt-like wings , I cannot capture this. Doc, my Ntviolet co...

If so, it makes sense. Seldomly breeders would hold back say a normal blue nowadays, but sell it off before the 1st year moult, meaning they sell it off before parblue manifests itself. As Chris & Bob said "some kind of Parblue", it sure is different as it only manifests much later as...

Lee, I think two things play a role here: 1) This one is on topic; I believe the push in declaring IRN as invasive in SA has caused a lot of damage to the market, esp. since there is still uncertainty as to what the permit system will entail. Re: What is the exact mutation of this hen ?
Hi Khalid, welcome to the forum. :D In my humble opinion, the hen looks as if edged is involved. However, looking at the cock, that doesn't seem genetically possible, as the cock should be expressing it in single factor. It doesn't look as if he is edged, which means he is carrying a recessive gene,...

Pastel birds are born with black eyes and the allele bronze fallow with red, but I don't think either of those apply here.
