Re: What's your motivation?
My boyfriend and I bought a house together and he was finally able to bring his Quaker parrot Camo to come live with him. He had always been concerned that the noise wouldn't be favorable in an apartment complex and with it just being him living there that Camo would get bored and lonely (apparently...

Fats' new sleeping perch
Don't ask me how he does it... Since I put in this new gigantic toy, he has discovered that it is actually the highest perch in cage... albeit a swinging one. He chooses to sleep here, on the swinging perch, on one leg. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2852/9915893694_9c5099098c_z.jpg And I really have...

Re: Attempt at first bath ?????
I found that Fats would not go for misting with a spray bottle, would not tolerate a bath in a baking dish, but went directly for the shower. I use my hand to deflect some of the spray horizontally onto him. he LOVES it. Stretching out those wings and rubbing his beak on my hands. It is time consumi...

Both birdie seem to like piano music. Piano concertos and such. I KNOW that Camo does not like David Bowie. One day early on I had had a bad day and just really wanted to sing at the top of my lungs in the bathtub to David Bowie... Camo was not having it. Maybe it was just my singing. Also Camo like...

Well, there is no difference in the attention paid to my feet with new nailpolish.
Hands however... I have had a few extra bites to my fingernails and finger tips. At first Fats was reluctant to step up... he's over it now.

So I have had a tiny bit of orange polish left on my big toenails from a pedicure some unmemorable time ago. Fats loves to go after my big toes when we are on the couch. I think it's the polish that attracts him--it certainly isn't the smell. I was thinking about going to get my nails done today.......

Depending where you are, there are organizations that sell "hurt-free" feathers that you can send the feathers to. They sterilize them and sell them to designers so they don't buy feather that we taken forcibly.

So, question... When your birdy said his first words, were they clear? Fats has started "talking" but we can only recognize phrases vaguely and by the intonation of the phrase. Pretty sure I hear 'pretty bird' or 'pretty boy' yesterday. Kinda think I've heard "thank you" but Fats...
