Re: EmeraldBlue Ino

Emerald is best displayed when the melanin is removed (in my opinion), so I find it hard to believe that there isn't more emerald inos around. Ok well, not that hard. People will usually throw their two most expensive mutations together in the hope of breeding something even more valuable. But still...

Re: opaline dilute

There is almost no visual effect present. The two mutations do not interact very well and the resulting bird is a 95% dilute lookalike. Those that did the initial experiments were hoping that the head would darken significantly, but it doesn't really happen. About the most distinct feature is the wh...

Kappa, that's a good question. I'd go with something like a cobalt violet cleartail. The edging on this bird is well defined, so I reckon it would be wonderful to breed a bird like him, with a clear head and tail. It'll take some time, though.

Kappa, there is a bit of talk of these nicer, slightly darker blues over here too. What I'd like to see is what two of these birds produce together. Would a double factor emerge? What would it look like?

(paraphrasing here): "and they bred these really dark greens darker than the dark greens" . This, along with the blueish tint on the coverts close to the flights and the lighter blue than a dark green main tail feather, for me, are trademarks of the NT violet. The one remarkable thing for...

To ensure a guaranteed DD violet(df) is no easy feat. You will need to breed a mauve looking bird from 2x guaranteed D violet(df) parents, since I doubt that the DD violet(sf) and DD violet(df) will differ in phenotype. This is why I feel that one needs to take the violet(df) component out of the eq...
