Re: Poss Vit A deficiency and resultant breathing problem
Is there another vet where you can get a second opinion and examination? Bobbing tail when breathing and wheezing is not a good sign. Can you place him somewhere warm? My vet told me when birds are ill, they need heat to help the healing process as a lot of their energy goes into keeping warm and ha...

Hi, congrats on your eggs! :D Fingers crossed you get bubbies. I guess it depends on the time the eggs are laid and when you saw them. The hen could have laid the first egg not long before you checked and the others just after you checked. Not all birds are the same so if she appears to be happy, he...

I feed my ringnecks fruit & veg, pellets and good quality seed mix designed for birds. I do not think bread is very healthy for them to be fed on a daily basis though. There is sections on the forum about good and bad food you can feed birds. He could be quiet as he may still be settling in to a...

Thanks Bec.....awww at Bipo :( Don't let that cute little face fool you. Re: my ring neck not making any sound!!!!!
Hi and welcome to the forum. :) My birds are quiet when I am near or playing with them. Sometimes they will make 'coo' noises when I pet them but mostly quiet. They do, however, make plenty of noise at different times of the day when I am quiet or not in sight. Especially as all my indoor birds are ...

I have never owned a Quaker but have heard they have similar personalities to a lorikeet as in playful etc. But I do have ringies  :D :D :D I think IRNs are wonderful, intelligent, elegant birds. A few people have had success in training their birds to accept a harness. I guess it is a good idea if you would like to keep your bird unclipped but still want to take him/her outside. Re: age problem
Once a bird has developed the ring fully, it is hard to guess an age. So anywhere from 3 yrs +...sorry can't be more precise.
If Puli is developing a ring, he would be between 2-3 years of age, possibly around 2.5yrs old.

Sounds like you have another boy to me.
If they have been getting along fine together then why not keep them both? Unless you are wanting to breed?
I know people who have kept male ringies together with no probs. Just depends on each bird.

I get my partners parents to come and feed/water/check my birds when we go away. I have too many birds to take to their house and the birds know these surroundings. Congrats on the eggies. :D :D It depends on how many eggs she will lay. If there are more eggs to come, she may not be ready to sit full time them. When one of my hens lays 5 eggs, she doesn't begin to sit tight until the 3rd or 4th egg. How deep is the nestbox. The deeper the nest the less effort t...

I replied to some of your questions in your other post. :) I really think the bluffing stage lasts as long as we 'allow' it from how we react and things we do. Just because one technique works for one bird, does not necessarily mean it will work for another. Animals are great at picking up our vibes...

If you do not like the idea of making a bird totally flightless through clipping, then you could just clip a couple of flight feathers on each wing so the bird can still fly with extra effort and not gain too much height. Depending on what result you are after and on the bird, you may only need to t...

Hi justjohn. I am not sure just how much 15grms of seed would be. I give my birds just under 1/4 cup of seed and they get fresh seed when most or all is eaten. This encourages them to eat their less favourite seeds instead of always picking out the best bits and leaving the rest. If it looks like yo...
