One bird like peanuts and almonds for training and foraging which I get out of a treat bag. It also has these dehydrated gummy things he likes too. As for my newer bird i've managed to teach him to like the things in that bag that the first bird won't touch. Every bird's absolute favorite is unique ...

First thing I taught my bird was to fly to me when I call his name. Hold a treat to him and say his name loudly. Gradually increase the distance until he's flying to you. Then make it more challenging by going to another part of the house and have him come to you from where he can't even see. Google...

To make him slow down decrease the size of the hoop which by itself can be interesting. Mr Bell can fly through a very small opening in a door no wider than the length of your finger so nila can too. An issue I have with two birds is that one loves birds and the other (who was meant to be a companion for the first) only seems to be interested in people. He was pulled away from his mother very very early and hand fed and made into a 'people' bird. I don't know the history behind my original bird ...

My first bird was singing and playing inside of an hour of bringing him home. He has proven to be quite bold and willing to explore. My newest bird took a few days and seemed pretty nervous. To teach the bird to come to you give it a piece of food but keep the food out of reach just a little so he has to take a step or two to reach it.
