Re: breeding my indian ringnecks
I know it can be exciting to breed but you'll have to be patient  . If your ringnecks are young, chances are it will take them a while to get it "right." One pair that i had almost took three years before all eggs were fertile. The female would work the nest, mate, and the pair would...

Hey Mani99,
They seem to be on the right "track" so to speak. If they are mating just give them plenty of privacy and the hen will lay her eggs. Some ringnecks take longer to lay their eggs. Just give her time.

Hey Avaks,
The size you want is an X-Small. I have a few for my ringnecks. Make sure to gradually work the harness on him over time. Don't make the mistake of just putting it on. Try starting a positive reinforcement program to gradually get him used to it. :OP

Re: plumheaded parakeet crossbred with an indian ringneck
Though I'm not here to pass judgement, I will say that many people believe this is not a good practice. Unfortunately, plum-headed parrots are not as abundant in captivity, so if possible, it would be better to find a male plum headed parakeet. This would ensure future generations could enjoy these ...

I'm very sorry this is happening. What type of nesting box are you using? The best boxes for ringnecks are ones that are deep, roughly 1 1/2 feet in depth. Also, the box should have a ladder from the entrance hole to the bottom of the nest box. Most nesting boxes have a wire ladder already installed...

Good Idea. I always have one on hand and ready to go during my breeding season should a problem arise. Yes, even the green females have a light ring if you look closely. In Alexandrines, young babies have phantom rings and many often turn out to be female. If she had a DNA test I'm 99% sure she is female. I love females! They form such strong bonds w/ their owners. Congrats! :) Best Wishes, IMRAN-C
