Re: Irn at the bottom of his cage help!!!!!
I would say follow your gut. None of us sees what you saw and none of us knows your bird like you do. You must make this call. Ask (and answer) yourself, Why did the bird go to the bottom of the cage? What did he do there? Was that unusual? How long did this last? Is it worrisome? Did he do it again...

Re: First IRN
I maybe didn't explain what I meant correctly. If you join to cages by stacking them and removing the partitions, you'll only be raising the roof, not the floor. It would stay as you have it. Changing the paper and feed, etc would not have to be harder. I do know how it goes with stacking cages. My ...

Re: An update and couple of questions.
The bar spacing concern, assuming it's not so big the bird can just leave, as might occur if you put a Canary in a 1" bar spaced cage, is that the bird might try to stick it's head through the bars and get stuck. Then the bird is in danger of breaking it's neck as it flails about trying to get ...

Re: help with rescue indian ringneck
That clipping interferes with the bird's abilities in the air is only a tiny bit of it, in my opinion. Other consequences may involve decreased confidence and so increased biting, as well as lack of the exercise they need to keep fit. If you do some detailed study of clipping you will find all the a...

Re: An update and couple of questions.
For Ringnecks I would be wary at bar spacing over 1/2 inch. For this other cage, since your friend has it, I would say go check it out in person, in action. See if you love it. Change the papers, handle the feed and water, note where the poop goes, bring the bird in and out, see how the toys go with...

Re: An update and couple of questions.
A grass mat is no impediment to a Ringneck's beak. The only question is how badly he wants to get through it as an indicator of how long it takes. This cage looks exciting and has an exciting price, and even more fantastic if you don't have to fetch it from the store yourself. However, there are a f...

Hi. I'm pulling these thoughts from my own life, here. First thought is that these guys are individuals, as are all of our birds. Thinking about timelines and schedules for them, if they are keeping pace with others, is not productive thinking. Better, I think, is to compare the current behaviour to...

Sinbad is SO silly! I'm pleased to report that Sinbad is getting accustomed to activities here at my house. He yells at me much less, though he still does yell. Today he yelled at me quite a lot as he got close to me and tried to brave up and take a sunflower seed from me. He was not quite brave eno...

Re: Will this be the right bird for me?
I cannot tell you if this species is for you, but I can tell you that it can be difficult, discouraging, and depressing for anyone to try to train a bird who is not tame enough or who has reached a plateau in training and won't seem to move past it. There are several issues people run up against and...

Re: What to Feed your Parrot (recipes, toxicities, links too
That's what I'm looking to learn here - how did people streamline their routine? Because EVERY day is a crazy day in my life. Because fresh foods made to order for five cages was doable for me, but for seven cages was too much. Because if I try to use a knife that early in the morning I'll be losing...

RIGHT on that!
cm/inch translation..... Of course I rounded my inches, and so an entire cm could be lost one way or the other.
110 cm = 43 inches
63 cm = 25 inches
62 cm = 24 inches
125 cm = 49 inches
For reference, MissK = 51 inches; dunno about InTheAir......

My two cents -- I'm certainly not going to fight anybody on certain birds disliking red. It's commonly held that birds don't like red. But. But. But for all our birds here, Mommy and Daddy, who fed us when we were babies, on whom we depended for very life, brought us food that came from red beaks. W...

Hey, I object! I WANT MORE COLOURS!
