Re: Parrot Speak
Breeding season is approaching Peter. It makes them act a little odd sometimes. In the wild they gorge on food all summer long. When it starts to turn cold and the food is scarce they slow down their eating and their activity. Sometime around January she will begin to feel a bit randy.

Re: Out in the Cold
Well when discussing gradual acclimation lets talk about chicks in a nest. When a chick is born, a hen will sit 24/7 keeping the temperature of the nest at around 37 degrees Celsius or 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Maybe a bit more depending on outside temperature influence. She will only move off the ch...

If they were the large tail feathers you just concluded a fall molt. Not a big molt but still a molt. I suspect because he's both indoors and out it throws off his cycle a bit. The big molt will always follow breeding season with a smaller one coming in the fall.

Of course I see a third alternative - teach them both a novel call at the same time. If I had to place money on it, my money would be on Miss Squidgette learning the Nila call. I don't have any money, of course (the dog ate it), so I'll just offer a piece of jute. Good thing I have plenty of that! ...

I've heard that. I was always afraid if my kids saw me do it then they'd be throwing their dinner at the wall. We had a thanksgiving incident in 2008 that ended in a food fight. Very good advice Tim. :D Something is bothering gizmo. And as Tim said, it may be a territory thing. Is gizmo a DNA'd male? This sounds closer to female behavior. Sounds like you most likely have two females if they've been together a couple of years already and no rings on either one. How old are they? I would also think about maybe separating them before they hurt each other

I forget...does he tolerate misting with a water bottle well? If so, mist him daily. The sheaths will soften and literally fall off just from his movements, (shaking, flying, etc) Skye would rub herself on her tree. Other than that, hunker down for some human to bird preening. Sorry

I believe when you remove the splits and put visuals only...it removes all of the split options, thereby combining all of the grey(sf) green results making them grey(DF) green results. For example: It would combine line 1&3 into a DF because it would record no splits 1.0/Males as: 12.5% 1.0 grey...

Ok for a sex linked recessive mutation a male baby must receive two copies, one from each parent, for it to visually express itself otherwise it can only be split to the mutation. But a female baby only requires the dad to be at least split for the mutation to visually express it. So assuming your p...
