The breeder may think something is up with you too, there is no way Im showing anyone i dont personally know my house or my birds and other animals. People get robbbed and animals taken sometimes by people answering adds ect and bassically casing the place under the guize of buying a pet.Its a shame...

also with teaching him to land try standing a short distance from his cage or another place he can land and having him sitting on your hand or arm slightly move so he flies off of you and onto cage. I would have him clipped again and let him have plenty of on top of cage time, when he holds on with his feet and starts flapping encourage him to do it. Doing that makes his wings nice and strong. yep thats what i use on our cages and on the floors around the cages. if its possible try putting some bi carb on the perch then add some vinegar to it, doing it like that makes it fizz and it gets it clean really well.

I have one around 4mths and he does exactly the same only he doesnt bite my mouth he kisses me or headbutts my lips with his beak. He also gives me a good telling off if i dont have anything for the little bugger. He eats whatever I give him but i dont give him a choice.

go to a pet shop and get some bird insect spray, cloud and his living areas (cage) need to be sprayed. if it is living on him and it sticks i wouldnt think its a fly rather some type of mite. I know vetafarm has a good spray that works well.

ellie with the bird in the pic it looks more like a shadow from the head to body. Kinda like the head has been stuck on later. Surprisingly some hens have really pretty rings.

I know exactly what you mean, my little otherwise sweetheart is doing it. I push his beak away and tell him no, its slowly working. No seems to work better with him when he is trying to eat the curtains thou. Mine is around 4 months.

The avairy birds food and water is on totally different sides with no perches and they still manage to put food in the water. They must take 1 seed at a time and fly backwards and forwards from one bowl to another.

I have both an alex and irns and they Have the exact same behaviours. And both males and females change during breeding season (winter) treat them the same as bluffing.

they may breed this season. Try to place other food sources in for the male. I noticed my hens chase the males away from everything (especially them) until breeding season when they dont eat, they get fed by the male.

nope its about the same price here. assuming its the same size bags. Its not cheap to handraise baby birds. It is essential that they are fed right when babies otherwise there will most likely be problems with the bird later in its life.

The perches would be moveable and wouldnt last very long with an irn. I like the rope type perches too,there kinda like a horse lead rope with the rope twisted tightly and can be shaped to make the cage more interesting for the birds. and they are easy on the feet too.

Mika doesnt know how to bite people, he thinks putting his beak on us is bitting. I hand raised him from really young and he never learnt. He really is a big softy and a really funny bird to have around.

I would be putting the important things first eg smoking, no smoking inside, make sure no smoke comes inside. dogs have to be locked away before bird comes out ect.

The ones on one part of the road it looks like a nest may have been disturbed, there was around 50 in a patch :o They are pretty big spiders too.

I have an alex and a Irn that live in the same cage. My two get on pretty well but they are both male and they feed eachother :shock: :? They talk (human) talk to eachother all day and are both very tame.

grab some outdoor surface spray for around the door jams and windows ect. There is a good mortein one in a black can with orange trigger, it lasts for a while and because its sprayed outside the animals are ok. its a big help if your baby gets out/escapes or someone steals them. Write down and take a pic if possible of the ring and numbers for id if needed. I have 3 identical blues and it makes it very hard to tell them apart.

He may or he may not. Not all talk and some pick up things really quick. I have aviary birds that say Hello in little old lady voices. My neighbour lives in a granny flat and her friends yell out to her to see if she is home, the birds hear it daily and have picked it up.

I can hear Mika when im in the car driving out my driveway and the house is locked up. He doesnt do it all the time and its not a normal contact call, he either barks or yells Julie. They can be really loud but they are also quiet too. Mika likes to talk alot and is more talk than squark.

by the pic it looks right to what I do. one way they refuse (the wrong way) the right way they gulp it down.

Mine get distracted by so much always going on at my place and i end up with food everywhere. even the other birds distract the babies.

also has the baby got heating in with it? if it gets too cold it wont eat properly.

check out the guide by Melika in the breeding section for some tips.
also try giving him a gentle rub where the feathers are coming out, they normally love it but they dont like it when you stop.

try touching the beak with your thumb and finger like the mother would with her beak, do that then try to feed the little fella.make sure the formula is the right temps. I have noticed mine eat more if they arent in the cage, i put them in a puppy pen and they seem to eat off a plate on the floor rather than eating from a bowl :roll: little buggers are going to have to eat from food bowl soon.

I have a male alex in the same cage as my male indian. I have a big cage and would highly reccomend a big enough cage so they can move around. My boy indie (irn) isnt an aggressive ringneck so he gets along with Mika the alex.

yep i have noticed that when indie (lutino) is wet he really looks saturated and i can see his skin. How's it going? did the stewed apples work?
I think it would strengthen the bond having her in the caravan, she would soon get used to you being there and seeing what you get up to. Just be careful in the summer that she doesnt get too hot in the van.

I have noticed with my ones im hand feeding at the moment, the youngest makes the same noises at me to be taken out and wants my attention. I speciffically took note that the crop was pretty full from my hubby feeding them before i got up, so it wasnt wanting a feed. could it be the same with yours?

Its normal for animals to eat poop. Its just us that thinks eww. Baby guinea pigs eat their parents poop when they are very new (newborns) and rabbits re eat their poop too.

my 10+ yr old irn indie has taken to handfeeding and my handraised alexandrian who is 3 likes a feed too. They try to get whatever they can :D a distraction at the usual feeding time may help.

it does come in later as far as i know. A few people have thought they had straight blues,greens ect and then after a moult they have discovered they are a turq.

Try some baby food, something like apple and mango,pumpkin and sweet corn ect. heat it to between 35 to 40 and give to him with a syringe. you can add some formula to it to help with weight gain.

I find it easier to feed the bigger ones in with the smaller. When they get bigger I find they tend to get distracted really easily so I feed them a little bit and go straight over to the smaller with whats left , this way I dont have to constantly be checking temps and everyone seems to be happy. a...

Has he recently had his wings clipped or toenails clipped? my boy indie wont talk to me if I have had anything to do with clipping his wings, he gets really quiet for a few weeks.

try using your thumb and finger and gently touch the chicks beak (immitate the parent feeding). do you have any other bubs you have pulled out? if so try putting the newest chick near them to get it into feeding mode.

if you are going to be feeding pellets start them off with them and dont worry about the seeds. try soaking the pellets in either warm water or fruit juice and make it into a mash.

I think the black spots are possibly the colour of the food that was fed. My "rainbow" hen and greygreen/split pallid cock have a chic and it had the same looking spots and I gave it a feed of apple sauce which clears the crops and it survived.

sorry to be blunt but you are going to get the same answers no matter how many times and how many different sections you ask in. If they are young you cant tell and if they are older they are both females.

males get a ring but not till they are around 2 to 3yrs.

Honestly My boy indie who i have had for 8yrs still does it to us sometimes, i sometimes use food as a bribe. He starts pinning and really giving us the impression he is going to take fingers but when he realises we arent backing off he ends up on our hand. getting him back in his cage is tricky too...

yes but it depends on how you want the birds to be after breeding season. If the bird in question is tame it may not be the same after being paired up. But it also depends on the bird.

oldest is 3weeks and youngest that died was a couple of days. they seemed to hatch 1st 3wks 2nd 2 days later and 3rd is 7days younger. there was 4 all up.

Im pretty sure they adapt to the climate they are in at the time. some people on purposely have an artificial climate in order to get them to breed. Here (Australia) my pairs have chicks and just started laying and most people in other parts of aust have chicks that are old enough to leave home.

congratulations :D did you leave the other egg in? I had 3 hatch and left the 4th in as a buffer (so babys didnt get squashed) and after 1 week the 4th hatched.

depends how much time will be spent by the breeder hand raising the chicks. They can simply be fed and put back into the cage or they could be hand tamed. Hand taming requires a lot more time and interaction with the baby. ask if it will be hand tamed or just hand fed.

I had eggs go missing from the nesting box last year, it was mice getting in. I put vaseline everywhere they could possibly get to and saved the last egg. vaseline made it too slippery for the little buggers to walk on.

i put the box in way before i see the male feeding the female. i would actually put the box in asap so they are used to it being there first time breeding. The hen needs to explore what the box is and how safe it is to lay the eggs.
