Re: My Indian Ringneck Parrots doesn't make any sound ?

Hey there anandg

Are you sure your birds are only 3-4 months old? The reason I ask is your male has a ring around his neck and they don't grow them until 18months plus.

Don't worry about them not saying much, took my baby 2 weeks to find his voice

Re: Does my IRN have a feather condition?

Just looked at his website and don't see my cage I got there, he does have more than he is showing there. I went in to buy the open top one he's got there but loved the other ones with the seed catcher and wheels with two trays one on top and one on the bottom of the cage.

Re: Does my IRN have a feather condition?

Look for JAL pets on line, it was the best prices I could find in our area. I got the large cage with the play section on top for $230 that was with tax. The prices u see on that site have tax added. All the cages are new and boxed. I will be going again to get a smaller one so I can get it through ...

Re: Does my IRN have a feather condition?

Hey there Blue Paco, I am also in Toronto area, and Clyde has the same thing, but not to the same degree as your bird, and also the little fluffies as described are floating about. I thought this was just normal, ware and tear and damage to their feathers as they are still babies and don't always la...

Re: Funny behavior with pumpkin seeds

Clyde is now just 4 months, he also drops things to the bottom of the cage, but has now in the last week started to climb down for them. So funny to see him trying to get back up with his mouth full, up the bars. Will have to get more perches for him so he can hop back up with his mouth full so he d...

Funny behavior with pumpkin seeds

 Clyde has started to take his pumpkin seeds to his water dish and dunk them before eating them, does any one else find their IRN’s doing this? I do see him drink the water from time to time, so that is not an issue. The only problem I have with this, is after he dunks it, he jumps over to hi...

Re: Hello there.

Great post MissK! I have been very lucky with Clyde, he's Grumpy in the morning when I wake him so I leave him alone (i am also grumpy in the morning, so I understand) lol We leave the radio on when we go to work, and when we get home we each in turn will take him out of the cage with a step up and ...

Re: Frozen veggies and fruit

Because we love our babies and some times too much information is bad for us!! With too much reading we see lots of things that don't exist, well that's how I see it!! Example: omg!! He's standing on one foot and always his right is he sick ? I have been feeling his chest bone to make sure he is not...

Re: Frozen veggies and fruit

Thank you Melika, I had read that thread, but it took a second read to intake all the information :D So if I understand this right, as long as I feed human grade peanuts to Clyde and give him a healthy diet enriched with vitamin A. I should at least be on the right path when it comes to feeding him ...

Re: Ringnecks normally this quite?

Hi Kislanya, thanks for the information, they are just like my kids then, one very loud and the other one quiet. I'm sure I am one of a very few parrot owners that gets excited when the bird just gives a small chirp, and wishes he talked more. At least we now know he is not a mute bird

Re: Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hi Annie, yes I did. We have had Clyde for 2weeks a male who was 2months old and he's more than we hoped for, he steps up and gives kisses and will step up when on the floor or to come out of his cage. He was hand fed by the breeder and is so tame :D I have a second cage in the basement that I carry...

Re: Hello there.

Hey Anked and Annie, I am also new to the site and have a young IRN Clyde, he is around 3 month old, we have had him now for over two weeks and he has started to nip when you ask him to step up when he is in his cage, just got him a large cage this weekend so getting into pick him up is a lot easier...

Re: Frozen veggies and fruit

Thanks Molossus :P I did read about the peanut shells carrying some bacteria that can be very harmful to my bird, but I did not read about the pumpkin seeds, so thanks for that. :P With the peanuts, I just took out all the shell peanuts from his feed and only hand feed ones that I had bought with dr...

Great picture!!

Bet the farmer is not to thrilled, but hey you put out a bird buffet what do you expect. Its like putting out a Chinese buffet in the middle of a busy town center when the pubs are kicking out with no one watching it, Its going to get eaten!!

Re: Frozen veggies and fruit

Thanks lethalfire, I have been wasting a lot of food at this time, he will try some and then go onto the next thing i have in his cage. I read to only keep the veg and fruit in the cage for around 2 hours. As i am getting used to the amount he eats I can then adjust the amount i am giving him, but I...

Frozen veggies and fruit

While trying to give my new baby a wide choice of fruit and veggies, which he is eating everything that I am offering at this moment, Pumpkin seeds, banana and peanuts seem to be his Favorite food so far “they are now off the menu and are used as training foods”. To try and keep his diet as varied a...

Ringnecks normally this quite?

Brought my new baby home last night, 2 months old turquoise blue male (DNA tested and banded). I have him in a small cage until next week, which I think is a good idea as I can move it about the house and have it sitting right next to me where ever I am, last night he was stuck to the side of the ca...

2 month irn, with black shading on his beak

Hi all, Just checked out a 2 month old irn, turquoise colour with a redish beak, my only concern with this little guy is that his beak has a mottling of black through it, if this is natural then I'm happy, if its cos he's young as the breeder told me then I am more than happy, but I tired to look it...

Re: Hello from Ontario, Canada

He does now, brought him up to speed  I do want a young bird to start off with, I don't want to take on a bird that I will have to work even harder on, once some one has cast it aside because they no longer want it or that it does not do what they want it too. Once I have settled into this bree...

Re: Hello from Ontario, Canada

Well Hubby not in the loop  , but my agenda is to get the little one first and then when he's around a year and over the bluffing (hopefully I don't see to much of that) I will then mention him needing a little friend and how we can give a new home to a unwanted bird, once he has fallen in ...

Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hi all, Fantastic site you have, and lots of great people I see posting, I have been on the site for a few weeks now learning as much as I can before I go off to buy my first IRN. I have kept birds in the past but when we moved out to Canada 7 years ago from the UK we had to find a home for my male ...
