Re: biting
Debrawynn you don't shoo the bird away from your shoulder but you should immediately remove the bird. First the bird needs to be trained to step up and down from your hand without biting. once the bird is competent in that. I would then start training your bird to fly to your hand and back to the pe...

Re: biting
debrawynn I'm not a supporter of wing clipping as it can cause behavioural problems. The bird's first defense is to fly away. If that is taken away then the bird's next defense is to bite and your bird is already biting. To have a bird on your shoulder you must be able to trust it 110%. Because your...

there is a fibreglass type of cast that is used on humans. one of my sons broke his arm and the hospital use this fibreglass cast, it's extremely strong and water resistant. but it's expensive compared to tape and I don't know if vets use it.

Had her behaviour changed recently ?
Does she bite your hand?
would you class her as "wild", "semi-tame" or "tame"?

I have looked at various threads on toys and looked at a number of photos. I'm amazed in what items can be used as a toy. Items from old baby toys to plastic spoons or popcide sticks. The ingenuity and imagination of people who make toys for their birds is astounding.

The average adult Alexandrine Parakeets weights around 200 to 300 grams. So at 425 grams she is a monster. definitely not under weight. I once read that between 75% to 80% of captive birds are overweight due to poor diet and lack of exercise.

I don't think this normal. what is he chewing on?. that could be the reason why this is occurring. if you are feeding your IRN a good healthy diet then the IRN's beak should stay the same color. of course it could be a mutation. I would go and see a avian vet.
