Re: Introducing an older bird help...

Well we did it, we have now have a beautiful male Eclectus in our flock. We introduced them very cautiously to each other tonight and so far so good. They shared a bowl of veggies, played with the same toy and then the eclectus preened Milo's tail feathers. Was very sweet to watch but I was so nervo...

Re: Introducing an older bird help...

Thanks for the info. They are so beautiful Lou. I'm not expecting miracles and them to be best buddies but i wondered if there were any hard and fast rules were peoe have introduced a bigger older bird and it's a definite no no. I guess we will take things very slow and hopefully in time they will b...

Introducing an older bird help...

Hi everyone, I've just been given the opportunity to adopt my aunties 3 year Eclectus as she is emmigrating. I really want to jump at the chance but was wondering if anyone on here has had experience with introducing new birds to your IRN. Mine is now only about 4 months old so I'm not sure how he w...

Re: Hello from sunny London UK...

Thanks guys, he is a sweetie. Though this morning when I was cleaning out his cage I found a few feathers in the bottom of his cage and when he flew a couple fell out.... They all appear to be from the top of his body and wings, I haven't seen any signs of him plucking and would this be normal for s...

Re: Hello from sunny London UK...

Likewise, we need to see Aero. I managed to get a couple of snaps on my phone during playtime, they aren't the best but you can see he is a beautiful colour. We think he is about 9 weeks now. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/danman86/image3.jpeg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/danman86/im...

Re: Hello from sunny London UK...

Ok thanks, I'll take a read of how to upload images. I think it wouldn't let me before because I was a new member and it was classed as "too spammy"! We now have a name... Milo :) He's a little sweetheart, the funniest little thing. Although he clamps his beak down a bit too hard sometimes...

Re: Hello from sunny London UK...

Good stuff, sounds very exciting. I've only had mine 2 weeks now but he seems to of settled in so well it's untrue, he's starting to really explore his surroundings a bit more now and he is hilarious. I can't wait to see how he changes as he gets older.

Re: 6 week old feeding HELP!

Sorry but I have another question, sometime when I touch him he feels like he is ever so slightly shivering. He doesn't appear to be cold though or nervous and is happily wondering about or chewing something. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: 6 week old feeding HELP!

He is indeed. The bald patch on his chest has almost gone in the few days we've had him. I tried to offer him a small piece of banana but I think he heard the spoon stirring the forumla and was more interested in that. Maybe I'll try mashing some banana in to some of his formula this evening and see...

Re: 6 week old feeding HELP!

That's quite a good idea, he is happy to hop on my hand so maybe I shall take him over and introduce 'THE WINDOW'. When feeding him this afternoon I've noticed he seems to beg and bob his head for food but doesn't take from the spoon when I offer it. My conclusion was that the formula had dropped be...

Re: Interesting blue mutation. Any thoughts on what we have.

Makes perfect sense thanks guys. Moving on from that, what are the visual differences between a single factor and a double factor? Ie how can you tell from looking at photos what is single and what is double, etc.

Re: 6 week old feeding HELP!

It sure hurts me to watch him crashing, he doesn't seem too fazed at all. We have floor to ceiling glass along one long wall so I'm sure there might be a few more crashes to come :( I've given him some grated up carrot, green cabbage, broccoli, red pepper and corn in a shallow dish for the next coup...

Re: 6 week old feeding HELP!

Ok so I fed him this morning and his feeding took slightly longer than usual as he kept showing signs of not being interested but then we sound for more. Also some of the time he would try and nibble a bit from on top of the spoon rather than me spooning it in to his beak, would that tie in with the...

I will try and get some pics in better light, they were just some quick snaps off my pho...

Interesting blue mutation. Any thoughts on what we have.

Hey everyone. We just recently got our little baby from a lady who just didn't have the time for him. We believe he is somewhere around 6 weeks. Yes he is fledging. He sits on his perch or my shoulder and flaps away, he's even able to glide to a degree from a perch to the sofa (about 3 feet)! I have just given him his lunchtime feed and he ate around half his scoop of food. Not too bad but he didn't woof it down like he used to. He did attem...

Good luck with the eggs. You will have to keep us posted on how they get on. That's a good idea with the peanut butter, I had not thought of that. So far today I have offered him some broccoli, grape, melon, kiwi fruit, bread and millet spray. He nibbled on all of it and particularly nibbled the bre...

Hi everyone, Yesterday we picked a baby IRN from a lady who didn't have time for him and I have a feeling he has been a bit neglected. Hello everyone, Looks like a great site you all have here, with a wealth of information. I just bought a young 6 week old ringneck from a lady who really didn't have any time for him and as a result I think he may be a bit neglected :( He is such a sweet little thing though. My family have kept bird...
