Re: How long before disposing of eggs
I counted the days and yesterday was day 36. I bit the bullet and disposed of the egg. However I cracked the egg carefully before disposing of it and yeah, it had once been fertile, but was still in the embriotic phase and hadnt formed anything of substance...and gone off. Its heartbreaking for our ...

Assistance with identifying colour of 2 birds please
Have attached the pics of both birds. Male is in the second pic on his own. The reason I ask is because people seem to have different ideas of what "blue" means. Plus I have no history on these birds and they have just bred so im keen on any ideas of what colors they could produce. Any and...

Celebrating our first ever egg
I thought I would share this with you all. Our IRN (who we thought would never find a bird she liked enough to mate with) has finally had her first egg. We are so over the moon, its the funniest thing. Ive been telling everyone I see that our IRN had her first egg today. LOL At this point in time we...

I've just noticed that Jacks feathers in the back are kind of fluorescent-ish. Is this normal? Could you tell me a little more about it please? Ive been reading a lot but this is the first time I've had to take a photo of Jack using a flash. Thank you again. I've attached a photo of Jack taken with ...

Re: chattering noises while resting
my Copurnicus makes those squeaky mumbles in his sleep too. He gets quite loud, it's adorable. I was wondering if he would continue to squeak-talk when he got older? He's only 13 weeks old at the moment. Also, do both males and females do it? I don't know if he's a boy or girl so I was trying to get...

Re: New addition - 11 week old Indian Ringneck
Hi, I have had my little 11 week old Copurnicus for 2 and a half days now and he is super affectionate. Loves being cuddled by everyone, very social with minimal biting. My 14 year old daughter and 7 year old son both feed him and play with him. He's learning to step up and is already happy to lie o...

Re: moulting, & wing clipped feathers
hi all,
so it looks like my Jack is coming out of molt, lol, thought I would take a pic of her. You can see on the side of her head where her pin feathers are. ... Shes looking a bit raggedy at the moment and has a temper to match. we used lots of aloe and extra showers to help her through.

Re: moulting, & wing clipped feathers
how do you know if your irn is molting? My Jack has a couple of little (1cm) bald patches on her head in places that I know she can't pluck herself, I'm in New Zealand, so can she be molting early? We are beginning Summer now and its been quite hot. Shes a also losing her downy feathers from under h...

Hi so Jack is one of my 3 IRN's. She started the obsession I suppose. We dont know anything at all about her background/age anything at all, other than the fact someone loved her so much that she is hand-friendly and very affectionate (to my partner...even though I take care of her *sigh* ). All tha...

Hi from AKLD NZ
Hmm where to start? I now have 3 IRN's, one handraised female blue (captain JACK sparrow, my son named her before we knew lol), one female grey green (SWAG, my teenage daughter named her  ) and one male green (TROY). Jack flew to my partners shoulder while he was at work and would not fly away...
