Buying birds out of State

For those of you that purchased your birds from another state.... how did you go about doing this? Wouldn't you want to see the birds in person so you could pick out a healthy one? Or find one that enjoys your company?

Re: Toys on the floor of cage

Im assuming you are talking about the bottom of your cage?? Does the cage have a grate to seperate the bird from its droppings? You probably could...but I personally would not. I would be too worried about the birds toys and the birds themselves playing in/near their own droppings. What if you broug...

Re: When should I let IRN out of cage?

Try teaching the bird how to step up on to your finger. Once the bird is willing to step up you can just stick him back in cage while he/she is on your finger. Teaching it to step up might be difficult in the beginning. Does the bird eat food from your hands when you try feeding it? I know when I ha...

Re: Hello from Long Island NY

Hi and Welcome. I'm in Baltimore. I'm sure you'll learn a lot here, but it would be best if you could spend some time with an IRN in it's home environment. They are fabulous, but would not be my first choice for an apartment bird. Some of them are noisy and some are quiet, but on average I wouldn't...

Re: How old is your ringneck?

Ahhh ok thank you very much makes sense with everything you have stated Missk. I was starting to think the same thing. Everyone is excited and has tons of questions in the beginning but after they learn how to take care of their birds they drift away from the forums and just live their lives.

Hello from Long Island NY

Don't currently have a IRN right now due to my living situation (Landlord does not allow pets). Once I move to a pet friendly apartment, hopefully I can get my very first IRN! Until that time comes I will be surfing the webs and forums heavily to learn as much as possible about these birds. Anyone f...

Re: How old is your ringneck?

I do not have a IRN but would like to get one in the future. Until the time comes I am trying to learn as much as I can. Was curious to know why not too many people have older birds? Majority of those that voted have birds that are around 1 - 3 years old. Whats the reason for this?? Do people lose i...
