Joey's Behavior

So, things have been going well for Joey. Except, for the fact she absolutely refuses to grow a tail . But lately she has been performing some weird behaviors (or I should say NEW). First off, she loves to perch on my head. She comes down with no problem and she is never aggressive when on my ...

Joey only really likes to be petted during snuggle time. If it is not snuggle time, petting is not permitted. Joey will growl at you if you do not obey the rules. I don't push it, it is up to her whether she wants to be petted or not. Some birds just don't like it.

My Joey is a little girl.

I just found out that Joey is a girl. I was impatient and had Joey sexed. I have been calling her Joseph since I got her two months ago. Should I feminize the name? I am horrible at bird gender guessing. I have a male quaker parrot named Samantha, whom I just call Sam. I have also had a male budgie ...

Joey's "Swing"

I was doing some work at my computer the other day and Joey (whose cage is right behind me) was having a blast playing with a plastic chain that I attached on the outside of his cage (there is a large hanger/hook that extends from the top outside perch). Suddenly I heard screaming and the manic flap...

Re: Nila's latest art project

Wow! That is so adorable! I never knew they made ringneck size paints! That is a very talented bird you have there.

Re: Broken Tail Feathers and Mimic Question

Thank you for the input. Joey is rarely ever in his cage, only when he sleeps. He definitely has plenty of room. I am hoping that he is just an active and rambunctious baby! I hope the vet agrees! Thanks again!

Re: Broken Tail Feathers and Mimic Question

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't my imagination that Joey was beginning to sound just like my Quaker. I am still worried about his tail feathers though. He is going to see his vet in a week, for his regular check up. I just hope that there is nothing wrong with him!

Broken Tail Feathers and Mimic Question

In the past couple weeks Joey has managed to break every long tail feather he has. They have not bled or anything, it just looks terrible. He plays very rough with his toys and on his cage. He is like a little acrobat, hanging upside and swinging. He is about three months old, he eats a good diet (p...

Re: Baby Indian Ringneck and My Trip

I just thought I would tell you all that I got home from my trip today. It really was like I never left (except for missing them daily). I talked to my babies over the phone, and had my mom snuggle with Joey at night just like I do (with his blanket that I normally use). Tonight Joey resumed his usu...

Re: Baby Indian Ringneck and My Trip

Thank you for the tips! I will definitely make sure that Joey has a way to hear my voice. I know I will calling my birds so they can hear me and talk to me. I never thought of including a clothing item in the cage with Joey. It is a good idea, maybe I will give it a try. I know I am going to miss my...

Baby Indian Ringneck and My Trip

Hi everyone, I have a question that maybe some of you can help me with. I have a baby ringneck, Joey. Joey is about ten weeks old and I have had him for a little over a month. I have to go on a trip for work that will last about four days. My birds (I also have a quaker parrot and four budgies) will...

New Baby Indian Ringneck

Hi everyone, I am new here and thought I would introduce myself. I am the proud parent of less than 2 month old baby IRN. I am a little unsure of his age, but he is still eating baby food and was receiving three feedings a day when I adopted him. He is currently trying new foods such as soft veggies...
