Re: Sexual Behaviour
It's good that you and your partner both handle him. It should keep him from getting too attached to one of you and pair bonding. And you did the right thing I believe by handing him off to your partner when he displayed mating behavior with your hand. I'm not sure where you're located, but if you ...

Sexual Behaviour
Our Lutino IRN is displaying what we think might be sexual behaviours. We previously had problems with him being agressive with my partner when he was affectionate to anyone and agressive towards me with biting and pinning his eyes...this all seems to have passed and now we seem to be at a new place...

Re: IRN, pinning
I get confused by the pinning also, but in the case of our boy...it is more likely to be aggression and caution towards me. He doesn't pin with my partner at all but depending on his mood he will pin at me. Who would think that a bird can tell you so much with their eyes!

Re: Rich, enjoying her new tree...
The tree looks like a great bit of fun! We wanted to make a tree for our IRN but didn't know suitable timber :$ luckily for us we took a trip to our pet shop to get more seed for our boy and came across a fantastic natural perch by a local man! When I can post pics I will drop one here for you to se...

Re: Aggressive attacking...HELP!
We have decided to give it a go for a week with me taking over his care. This morning I had him step on my finger and he allowed me to pat him without pinning, biting, growling or any negative behaviour so I gave him a treat. He even had a morning chat with me. I not long finished changing the paper...

Re: Aggressive attacking...HELP!
Hi Ellie,
I am sure he thinks he is human already. I would love an IRN but I do not think he would accept another bird after 4yrs of being the one and only bird.
I am new to the training thing and don't really know where to start with it all!

Re: Tricks to Teach our IRN
Hi Claire, Mosh pit is where he bobs his whole body up and down with his wings slightly out and his chest puffed out...he does it to music or head banging or when we squeegee our shower...very entertaining! I am new to training of any variety as he has always been taught by my partner. I am teacher ...

Tricks to Teach our IRN
After getting some advice about our boys behaviour, I want to teach him some tricks to develop a bond with him...but am at a bit of a loss as to what! He already knows: step on, mosh pit and bat bird and will go to my partner when he says 'come on'. He can say: Sunni's such a good sun, sunshine, Sun...

Re: Aggressive attacking...HELP!
How do we go about me taking over his care...he truely doesn't seem to like me at all and has bit me on occasions when I have tried to take out old food items from his cage. He sometimes charges at me with his mouth open just for being near his cage. He has 2 other perches apart from his cage and he...

Aggressive attacking...HELP!
We have a Latino Indian Ringneck who is about 4yrs old. We discovered about 12 months ago that he is a boy as he developed his full ring and was displaying male behaviour like regurgitating and making his wings into a love heart. He has been my partners bird for the entire time and idolises him. He ...
