Re: Is he/she male/female

I've been looking at his/her behaviour and notice Jo does the heart shaped thing with his wings, which I read about in the article on this site about sexing your bird. But not sure if that in itself is a dead fast way to tell.

Is he/she male/female

Hi! I've got a question about my ringneck Jojo. I've had him for over a year now and he brings me endless joy. I've heard that only male ringnecks have the ring around their necks, and that it develops slowly, but the females have only a slight green ring. Now when I got him I was told he was a he, ...

Re: new owner of IRN

Ahhh I see, thanks Melika, Subodhhire and MissK for explaining it to me. I do use the 'Good Boy!' or 'Good Birdy!' after he gets to me and takes the treat, but I keep saying come on, or come on Jojo while he's creeping around the cage trying to check me out. Good news though, he only took about thre...

Re: Should I force train him or let him take his time

Phew! I wasn't sure if I had to help him or not, I guess he'll figure out how to do his head on his own this time around :) Thanks guys and gals! And yes MissK they stick to everything!

Re: new owner of IRN

I just read through this entire thread. RomanticGuy, you are doing well! Especially after taking so many bites! And for the mere fact that you have found a way to get him back into his cage and handle him. I am interested in the clicker training though. I saw it on youtube a few days ago. Is it mere...

Re: Should I force train him or let him take his time

I'm actually getting a bit nervous now because I have been reading up on the moulting phase which I actually think he is going through now. On the top of his head I can see the feathers thinning a bit and the greyish fluff underneath, and he is preening A LOT! and these little fluffy feathers drop, ...

Re: Heavy moulting

I have the same issue, there are little white/grey feathers everywhere! I'm thinking he is just moulting as well, he isn't to the point where he looks shaggy, but he's always preening himself.

Re: Should I force train him or let him take his time

Thanks guys for your advice! I've been reading everywhere and they say to use gloves to get him out etc. but then that could be bad because he would get used to the gloves and not your hand. Just really conflicting stuff. I've tamed lovebirds before and i know their bite and I can only how much wors...

Should I force train him or let him take his time

Hey! I've had Jojo for a month now. I have not taken him out of the cage since I got him, I have been putting my hand in there everyday to clean it out and clean and replace food and water in his dishes, also giving him fresh fruits and veggies separately. But also just leaving my hand in there and ...

Re: Hi! I'm new here!!!

Hi! Great to meet you CMG! Mine is a green ringneck, not as exotic in the colouring. Kudos for the breeding! I could only imagine how much work goes into that. I just sat for a whole hour trying to get my guy to take millet from my hand and it finally happened, i was overjoyed!
