Re: Mirrors

Hi lola, I dont know whether she is clipped or flighted. But in any case, let her out of the cage for some time. That will give her the change of atmosphere required. Then hopefully she will calm down. Dont give her the mirror back now or everytime you remove the mirror she will create a scene. Subodh

Re: Mirrors

Hi lola,

Wait for a couple of days, let the bird calm down and then you start interacting with the bird as much as you can. Talk to him/her feed her treats with your hands and try to bond with him/her. Dont let it feel lonely because of the loss of the mirror.

Hi Sujith, you were on the right track till the towel thing. Now let me just give you a brief on what happens when you handle the bird using the towel. It so happens that the bird becomes helpless and then accepts its fate to let you hold him. This is not a very positive reinforcement. Once you star...

Hi Muziq,

First candle your eggs after 8 days. Do some research on candling. There is lot of stuff available online.

Wish you luck.

Re: My ringneck has just laid an egg

Hi Muziq,

If you know about candling the eggs, you can candle them after a week and check if they are fertile. I dont think the outside whether will effect the eggs if they are properly incubated by the hen. With early, do you mean that the birds are not fully matured????

Re: My ringneck has just laid an egg

Hi Muziq,

Coming from the same pet store and being of the same age doesnt neccesarily mean that they are siblings. I thin you should let them incubate the egg and take the chance. And since you are ready to hand feed, i dont find any reason why you should not let them go ahead. All the best.

They are not fully matured yet. The female and the male both should be atleast 2 years plus for breeding and still i would call them in the age of adolescence. According to me both should be above three years to attain a healthy clutch. So be patient and dont rush to things please.
