Hi mate, probably the best advice I can give, is to put his favourite foods in a bowl together, and see what he eats first. They do tend to go for the favourites first! Don't just trust the results from this test once though, do it a few times & see what he consistently goes for. I don't believe...

The silliest thing about that vet visit, is that the vet just down the road (who we didnt want to back to for other reasons) who trimmed nila's nails when he was a baby, did a MUCH better job of it, even showing how he tested with light pressure on the nail to see if it was the part that could be cu...

Just an fyi also, IRN's are not a breed that generally likes to be touched at all, i'd say 99% of them dont unless it is molting season & they don't have another bird to assist them with it...

Billie steps up without any training l put my hand near her and she lifts a foot so show me she is willingto step up and she does. But l have suffered some big bites to get to this stage it is built on trust. AJPeter Erm, that doesn't actually make a lot of sense, birds don't step up onto human fin...

Yeah australia IS kind of like living in a big zoo, I grew up only 10 k's from here at forest glen, where wallabies grazed on the grass near the clothes line during winter, you could spot the occasional koala in the trees, and observe taipans sunning themselve...

I have a theory that this kind of occurence is the reason why ringnecks are so able to adapt to new owners/mates, in the wild where they originate from, anything can happen, so they have the ability to get over losing a mate quickly.. I mean there has to be a reason why they tend to lose their tamen...

One thing that really helps to avoid being bitten is to understand the body language they display before they go for you. Watch for "slicked back" feathers, pinned eyes etc. Yes you will need to regain lost ground, but don't be disheartened, it does take time to tame a ringneck, but they a...
