Re: parrot surgeon - warning this is a bit gross

Yeah I woke up during surgery, by my calculations it must have been the second or 3rd bite! I had already knocked it at work during the week so one side of it was dislodged a little so he must have got under it pretty well... Claire thinks he put me under hypnosis by chanting "what doing what doing ...

Re: 2 Fighting Birds! HELP!

Jack, you really need to do some research, talk to some breeders, a female IRN will kill a male quick smart if she doesn't like him. And if she DOES like him, then you have to put in some serious effort to stop them breeding. Here in australia we are heading into breeding season so these birds are h...

Re: When do i place the baby ringneck in the cage ?

X2, baby birds are designed to be pretty much bomb-proof when fledging, in the wild they can fall from a great height whilst learning to fly so their bones are able to handle hits that adult birds cannot. If you don't let him learn to fly now, you may be setting your bird up for a nasty accident lat...

Boy dance improv!

So, we've noticed Nila incorporating some pretty suave moves into his boy dance (note: never towards us, always to the sexy bird looking back at him in the mirror/window/glass etc). Some of his signature moves include wings, wave, and turn around, all jumbled up with the pinning eyes/heart shaped wi...

Hi guys, we went to visit the breeder we bought Nele (our 9 month old DNA sexed male pet) from on the weekend, and were lucky enough to be able to take some photos of his parents. We are reasonably certain Nele's dad is turquoise blue, and that his mother is blue. The whole clutch appeared to be tur...

Hi Tobiloh, that head bobbing/ squeaky noise behaviour you see at the end of the video is what they do as babies, to let older members of the flock know not to pick on them as they are young. He stopped doing it at around 6 to 7 months of age :)

Yeah when we mentioned that birds dont know what the word "NO" means, we meant it! Really all you can do to stop him doing a certain behaviour that you dont like, is to use diversion. Pretty much means you have to have something handy that he likes chewing/playing with etc that you dont care too muc...

Yeah that's it, and yes he does! Yeah mate we rent, i had to repair the cornices that he bit into, hence why we made these hanging toys. As you can see, fitting them to the curtain rails has not damaged anything, and can all be undone in a matter of minutes..

This is Nele's jungle gym in the lounge room, we built him a couple of these because he developed a penchant for destroying cornices, once he had a good distraction problem solved!

If a pet gets stuck with someone they don't really like, of course there will be issues! But dont underestimate the im...
