Re: is this bluffing?
Hi jimmyjack Im replying as this seems similar to my scenario...all except for the beard lol! My irns coming upto the time of his first moult and his flight feathers are coming back into action now. I would say that im not convinced he is bluffing as the reason he is more flighty than usual and does...

Re: HELP!
Hi shardia Well if he's trying to bite you when you enter the cage and you pull away - dont! Take the bite and do so without making a noise (as hard as it is) or a facial expression. You want him to think that his bite doesn't affect you so that eventually he will not see it as an effective form of ...

Re: New hear
hi there just curious as to how you have ownership a month old chick? Or have you experience in hand raising chicks? Just ask as see a growing trend in inexperienced people being sold month old chicks where sex is unknown therefore probably didn't receive a hatch certificate either thus: a bad sale!...

Re: hello :) newbie here
Hi Jewlz to be honest, it maybe best to hold fire on the chick rearing just yet. Its a huge responsibility which should be carried out firstly and preferably by its parents, or secondly a fully experienced breeder/keeper. Not to shoot your hopes down but for both yours and the birds sake maybe best ...

Re: Sleeps alot
Hi without sounding rude, how has it come that you are in possession of a month old chick? It should be that for you to be rearing this chick, which at this age is what you are doing, you ought to know how to do it without asking relatively inexperienced questions! I hope you haven't been sold this ...

Re: will my bird always hate me and love my boy friend?
hi breht firstly, every bird has its own personality. No one can answer outright yes or no to your title question. You indicated that you are unaware of your irn's sex so i'd like to ask a few questions: -where did you purchase your irn? -how old was your irn when you get it? -do you wear perfumes/n...

Re: HELP!
u dont necessarily have to clip his wings, you could leave him flighted and use a flight harness for out of cage time (recommended). Let the lil'bugger do what comes naturally. IRN's can be clumsy at times, even in flight but clipping wings isn't a solution (its a preference).
good luck

Re: Wing flipping??
Hi Jen, Im glad you raised this topic as I too have been trying to conclude why my IRN does this. I have noticed that he'll do this it after an activity for which he'll not show any other signs of enjoyment nor annoyance. However I am beginning to lean more towards the fact that this is a sign of pl...

Re: Very disappointed with my new IRN ;(
Hi Firstly - breeders breed birds, they do not 'tame' birds. That would be YOUR job as the birds new 'parent' so pretty pointless asking any breeder for tips on taming as they simply do not have the time!! Second of all, from what I've read I don't see anything of worry from your bird, just a normal...

Re: I need HELP!!
Hi Charlie Well im no expert but if you haven't already read or been told this then the following would be the most common reply:- -dont expect too much too soon, all good things........ -make sure you have the right set-up cage, toys, environment etc for Charlie -you need to give charlie time to se...

Re: Newbie behaviour and neck stretching??
Thanks for the post Azure...although not sure as haven't got any toys in his cage?! You could be onto something about it being affectionate although he only does it after a 'frantic' moment. Eitherway he displays all other positive signs so not too worried and hopefully I'll find out soon!! Apprecia...

Newbie behaviour and neck stretching??
Hi there, im new to this site and also new to IRN's. Have a few questions about behaviour/neck stretching...... Firstly, I brought Lupê my 4month old blue male back home saturday and was surprised at how quiet he was for a 4hr motorway drive. In general he stays in the center of the highest perch wi...
