Hello!
Hello, I have an aviary raised cobalt IRN and is nearly 2 and I was wondering if anyone could hazard a guess at its gender? I'm leaning towards female as I don't think there is any ring development... but what would you guys say? I have seen it do a slow strut while pinning as well as standing up an...

that some how sounds a bit like a alexandrine ringneck, but it shouldn't be as the mutation is not likely to be a alex, compare your bird with google images of alex's. It might just be that your bird is unique, like how everyone person has a different skin colour.

Re: Need little help about IRN
hi 1. SCB -SA answered that 2. they may talk but it will take time... for IRNs speaking abilities should be the same in both genders 3. pictures dont work 4. ??? dont really understand the question... you will need to get them DNA sexed or surgically sexed to find out gender before the ring appears ...

Re: Advice needed: My IRN's beak seems to be peeling
sounds like a he, ill be calling it a he the peeling should be not a serious problem- if you look at pictures of older ringnecks, their beaks are often layered- suggesting that layers peel off. so i dont think its a problem but dont quote me- i may be wrong! pucking his own feathers isnt good, try t...

that can be a bit dangerous as the female can become VERY agressive in breeding season and might injure the male due to the lack of attention to her... competition is not advised...

Re: Help My IRNS feathers are coming out bloody
are those blood feathers? all feathers have a blood supply when they grow in, if they are broken its often hard for the bird to clot- does it continually bleed? if it does, get it pulled out or wait for experienced members or take her to the vet

Re: How to Tame and advice plzz
hi, next time, start another topic... but... if the ringneck is young, it probably is buffering... like adolescence for IRNs if not then it should be because of the lack of handling (you need to always handle IRNs to keep them tame) but to solve this... YOU MUST NOT REACT WHEN HE BITES (if he does) ...

Re: please help
before some of the more professionals answer... i just feel that its best to seperate them, its probably a good idea to keep the cages close so that you can monitor behaviour and if they show no hostile actions to the other one, keep them together again... (this may have been used to see if mates ar...

Some Questions
it seems that when looking at most baby birds, their feet are HUGE! does it mean that the feet grow at a slower rate after hatching or dont grow at all? It just seems that baby ringneck feet have a larger feet to body ratio than an adult! I also want to ask if a DF violet is always darker in colour ...

I've seen many ringnecks with long and short tails... does that change with age or does a ringneck with a shorter tail (in ratio to the body) stay like that?

white head white tail and clear head clear tail
i want to ask what is "clear" meaning- is it the original colour (green) showing in the feathers? and also is it possible to only have a "white tail" and no "white/clear head" at the same time for a DARK colour like DF violet? [edit: kinda answered my own question http://www.mcw-indianringnecks.com....

This may sound a bit stupid but do Indian ringnecks (along with other similar birds) sleep on the perch or in some kind of nest/ box?
