Female without a tail!
Can a hen that just lost her tail(nevermind how!) be bred successfully?
Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

Re: One cock 4 hens...
You should probably clip your hens wing to give your cock a slight advantage. It is not unusual for a hen to kill a cock who is slow to respond. After having two cocks killed I have a very healthy respect for irn hens and won't even consider putting a pair together without clipping the female. Good ...

Thank you, Farzz1. I have ordered Deon Smith's book and am assuming that that will answer a lot of my questions once it arrives. I appreciate your response.

Re: some advice needed on a pair.
My experience is that a pair will start laying as early as three weeks after eggs are removed, however, a change in location might slow that down but it is still early in the season.

Re: what do i do
Would anyone be kind enough to explain what the dominant edged gene does to the appearance of the bird? Many thanks in advance.

Re: unfertile eggs?
you might try clipping the cocks nails. If his nails are sharp and digging into the hens back she might not be able to stand still during the breeding. Good luck!

I will work on it. Since I have just joined this weblist I believe there is a number of replies that I have to send in before I can post photos but I will try and work on it this weekend.

Do a search on bluffing on this site and read up on that. With patience and time your bird will come around. Good luck.

Greetings from Texas!
My name is Robert and I reside in the Houston area. I love genetics and have four sets of Indian ringneck parakeets. I came to this site looking for some answers and have found them plus much more.
