hi I thought they were getting better, as one of their legs straightened but the other didnt, so I took the chicks to a person that knows a lot about birds , they said that unfortunately it looks like their mother must have broken the chicks legs whilst inside the box.....they reset in the wrong pla...

I was wrong nature isnt doing its job....one leg on both chicks still looks "splayed"...I will have to try

both left the nest today..gorgeous....this morning the silver , this afternoon the green younger one.......both on the bottom of the cage........poor things they keep on hitting themselves on the side of the cage trying to fly up to a perch.....

grey pin feathers on their wings.......I gues this means they will both be silver or grey ( given their father is silver)

i looked again yesterday...and their crops were again like a small marble
i'll leave it to mum....she looks like she is doing a good job.
she hasnt stayed out of the nest and i haved heard them crying out like i did that time....

no the egg wasnt from the box she laid 5, 2 hatched 3 still left over in the box. strange eh?
re hand rearing.....I would only be able to hand feed morning b4 work and evening after work... would that be sufficient , ....would wet egg and biscuit mix be fine?

Hi I checked this morning chicks felt warm when i picked up it had a ball the size of a small marble just under its throat , so yes they are being fed. It was just so strange that she stayed so long out side her nest that she has rarely goes out from...and the fact she was ignoring the chicks cries ...

very kind of you.- I peered in again today....their necks arent always down now...eyes look open....nice colour beaks.....nice size chicks....but no fluff yet...they are still naked.

hi all above pair have two chicks..hatched 18th and 19th of september.....i looked in the nest yesterday....chicks dont even have fluff yet.......i cant wait to see what colour they will be the cock is silver and the hen is lime green.( a little lighter than budgie green)...can any one predict what ...

still only two chicks..looked at nest yesterday///one egg seems very dark so hopefull of another chick , the remaining two eggs look much lighter in colour than the dark looking one. can any one advise , if the two lighter coloured eggs dont hatch should i leave in nest or let the birds sort it out ...

Martino, Looks like the eggs might hatch anywhere from the 18th to the 24th. Wessel you were right on sunday night the 18th i heard scratching noise inside the nest......all the ringnecks were calling out......it was starange yesterday I looked inside whilst mum had exited to eat....and wella a lit...

its been two weeks since i removed the eggs that did not hatch, I checked the nest last thursday and nothing- this morning I checked again- and she has 3 eggs- what a great feeling i couldnt get over how she checked out both nesting boxes available before she decided to go back to her previous nest....

incredible..its been one week since i removed the remaining eggs and now she's looking at nesting boxes ...she has two nesting boxes to choose from and like she did the first time she's checking out both of them before she lays again.....i thought she would have just gone to the one she was familiar...

thanks you.......i will remove the remaining eggs tommorow..and hopefully they will go again. it is her first clutch....in fact i was worried she may have been egg bound as she was spending a lot of time on the floor of the cage just before she laid her first egg. How do i increase the moisture leve...

thank- you when i looked at the eggs to sort out the clear ones the 3 that i left had dark mass spots....1 had vein like colouring around the dark mass......but given the time i thought that the eggs had gone off the fetus wasnt wrigling........but it broke my heart.... i dont like interfering with ...

i feel gutted..........in the process of getting rid of the remaining eggs.....i broke one...there was a baby inside the egg still pink/crimson......but the eggs have now been there for too long..was it dead inside the egg? or did i kill it....i feel like **** atm....i put the other two back underne...

thanks guys....2 were clear the other 3 looked dark and dense...i took the two clear ones out of the nest....i will give it to the end of the week , if they havent hatched i will get rid of them.

i live in sydney we are still in winter..mine went early she laid the first egg over 30 days ago....shes been in the nest ever since....she has five eggs in total.....none have hatched yet... how much longer should i wait before i give up on this cluch of eggs.......and if none hatch should i remove...

hi thanks for the reply ive read a lot but i understood the hen will kill the extra male if its 2 to 1....mine are 1-1 re season....from what i have been told they prefer to breed in cooler months.....and i was told in sydney u can start in april.....perhaps someone on the forum can confirm this tha...

hi all I am new to this forum and also new to IRNs. I have bred other birds as a hobby but i am understanding IRNs need a little more "know how"- I have 6 beautiful IRNs 3 males and 3 females two pairs are pretty much paired off the other two M & F ( that are newer to the aviary ) have...
