Re: female ringneck talk?
Yes females can talk. Both mine do. Probably not as effeciantly or elaboratley as the males can but they still have the mimic organ that all parrots have. Use simple words that are interesting or exciting to the bird. A good example is greeting your bird every morning at the same time. The first thi...

Re: loud birds?
Remember that parrots whether small or large are designed to be very vocal. The times when we find them less vocal are usually when they are feeding, interacting with each other or sleeping. If the birds dont have enough enrichment and stimulation they will choose to make noise to fill the boredom r...

Re: New addition - 11 week old Indian Ringneck
It can take weeks for them to settle in as everyhting around them is completely foreign. Keep a routine and make everything normal. When you pass the cage talk quietly about neutral things and use mimic to help. The amount of noise depends on the bird itself. They're just like us and have different ...

Re: Thought I wouldnt have to ask :)
Lol thanks Molossus I'm very knew to colouring. I did a big search on pied last night and also agree she's not pied. I guess it makes it hard as well when no two birds colours are completely alike.

Re: Play gyms
My play gym is a HQ like in the first picture but I have mine set up differently. All the ladders are put on and I have added a boing and acrylic chain for my lot to hang on. I've also wrapped the top ring and ladder with cotton and wrapped vet wrap around the rest of the bars. I plan on adding a co...

Re: Thought I wouldnt have to ask :)
I've managed to get more acurate photos of Lulu and also of her beside Lily for comparison. I'm making the assumption she's a pied but really dont know much about colour. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x204/poplarcharm/Lulu/IMG_1468-1.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x204/poplarcharm/Lulu/...

Re: YOU and your bird!!! - So we can get to know everyone
Sorry I managed to bung up my first picture in photobucket so here's one of myself and both my girls It amazes me how much bigger Lily (dark green) looks in comparison to Lulu (lighter) When she is actually loads smaller.

Re: Dramatic increase in female display? Nesting?
Thank you Imran. Glad to know I'm not adding to the issue. I'm situated in Brisbane Australia and it's the middle of winter at the moment. She has no boxes or huts so nothing specific to bring on the laying. Hopefully it's just a passing craze.

Dramatic increase in female display? Nesting?
Well long story short - in the last few days Lily has increased her flirting display rather dramatically. Previously it was only when coming out of her cage and for the first 5 odd minutes of head scratches and out of cage time (she came like that and I have other birds so am aware of the courtship ...

Thought I wouldnt have to ask :)
But, the more I look into IRNs I find that Lulu dosnt seem the' Turquoise' colour I'm led to believe. Would anyone like to correct me and my knowledge? The flash makes her look yellower than she is, so my best colour description would be to call her Pastel Green. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...

Re: Screaming and Screeching!
I've been in the parrot scene for many years now but am reasonably new to IRNs so my advice only comes off a general knowledge. You baby could be getting too much of a good thing, whereby when he wants attention or food or snuggles ect he has started to become demanding. He could also have developed...

Havent Introduced myself yet.
Hi all, My names Sianna and I've been lurking here for a while. Just not brilliant on writing intros. I'm a doting mother to two IRNs Lily and Lulu. Lily is a lovely 2009 Green female and Lulu is a 2007 Turquoise female. Lily was donated to me when an aquaintance recieved some harsh complaints about...
