Re: DF violet cobalt?
Okay great thanks for the help. You are telling me to pair the DF violet with a violet mauve but is that a better option than pairing it with a violet cobalt? My goal is to get the most purple looking bird possible. Thanks for the help!

DF violet cobalt?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could post a picture of a DF violet cobalt? I haven't been able to find one online. Also I have a DF violet that I want to pair with a violet cobalt so I can get the DF violet cobalt mutation. How can you tell apart a violet cobalt from a DF violet? Everything I have...

Re: Question regarding DF violet cinnamons
Hey guys thanks for the help!
The DF lavender looks grayish to me! I was hoping it would look more violet. The SF actually looks prettier and more violet to me.

Question regarding DF violet cinnamons
Hello, I have a violet split cinnamon cock with a violet cinnamon hen that are sitting on 5 eggs. I am hoping someone here can show me a picture of a SF violet cinnamon and a DF violet cinnamon so I can see the difference between the two. I have seen the difference between a SF and a DF violet but I...

Re: Pied mutation baby question?
Ok thanks for the reply. I will post a picture within the next couple days. Another question... I am going to pull the 5 chicks to hand feed here at 2 weeks. I plan on using the paper cup method. It will be my first time hand feeding but Ive done plenty of research so I feel pretty good about it. Ho...

Re: Pied mutation baby question?
Also, I went to check the box today and it looks like the few feathers that are coming in are white/cream colored. The others all have seem to have darker feathering coming in. Does this basically mean its going to be an albino or do blue and violet pallids start out with white/cream feathers?
Thanks
Thanks

Pied mutation baby question?
Hello, My violet cock (not split to anything as far as I know) and blue dominant pied hen (at least thats what I was told she was when I bought her) had 5 chicks. They are about 2 weeks old. One has red eyes. What does this mean. Does it simply mean the baby is going to be a dominant pied? Thanks fo...

Re: Advice on fostering eggs!
Okay great! One last thing.... So say my foster pair is a week or two behind my violet pair in the laying schedule. If I wait until the foster pair has finished laying and remove all the eggs and put the violet pairs eggs in her nestbox will she freak out if she only sits on them for a little over a...

Re: Advice on fostering eggs!
Okay thanks a lot especially to you rod038! A couple more questions or clarifications if you dont mind... So if I want I do NOT have to take all the eggs from my foster pairs nest correct? Say shes sitting on 2 fertile eggs I can just add 2 from my violet pair and not worry that she will freak out c...

Advice on fostering eggs!
Hey guys! I have 5 pairs of IRN's including some violets as of this year. I was hoping to foster the eggs that I get from my violets to some of my other pairs so they could double clutch. Could I get some advice and recommendations on how to go about doing this? Does the new pair accept this type of...

Re: Hand-Feeding and Weaning
Hello, This might seem like a silly question but I am new to this! I got one baby out of my pair of ringnecks and he is now 4 weeks old. I am planning on letting the parents feed him until he leaves the nestbox. My question is: Can I take him out from the box from time to time so he can have human i...

Re: What color chicks will I get?
Hm ok. Well I will have to ask the breeder. Let's assume the mother is just blue then. What colors will I get? Obviously blues but could I get lutinos or albinos as well??

Re: aviary question
I am not an expert but I would not have IRN's with cockatiels and budgies in the aviary of the size you mentioned. The IRN's would be fine in UK weather as long as they had a shelter for the winter. If you really wanted IRN's perhaps you could divide the aviary into 2 sections. One with cockatiels a...

Re: I need advice!
Thanks for the replies guys!
So if I can get a hold of the breeder of the parents of these sisters I should ask him if the father was split to ino? If he says yes then my albino DOES carry the gene for masking violet? If he says no then she doesnt? Or am I not understanding this corectly?

Re: I need advice!
Okay great! So you are telling me that since my violet hen is from a a violet female and a blue male she is 100% violet. It is safe for me to assume that with her genetic background (parents) if I pair her up with a blue cock I will get 50% violets and 50% blues correct?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: I need advice!
Thanks! If we know the parents of the violet hen were a violet(female) and a blue(male) what does that make her? I guess what is she split to and how does that change the outcome of the 50% violet 50% blue babies. If they were to sleep near each other in seperate cage would I want to introduce the m...

Great thanks. I am still waiting on another picture to put up. I have another questions for you guys. I could possibly get a violet hen. Well they are both 4 years old from my understanding and neither has a ring.
So they have to be females right?

Important question
Hey guys. New poster here! I have an important question. I purchased 2 indian ringnecks last summer. Both are females but they are very attached and are always together in my aviary. I had a nestbox in their aviary which looking back now might not have been a good idea... One of them has gone in the...
