Re: Housing Question
Thanks for the replies. I am assuming it will take a couple of months to get it looking the way I want it to. I want to make sure I research safe plants etc before putting anything in there. We will be taking the entire front of the shed off and replacing it with aviary mesh so there will be plenty ...

Housing Question
Hi Everyone, My husband and I are about to convert an old backyard shed into a "natural" bird aviary. It will have a pond and lots of trees etc in it and we are hoping to get it looking as natural as we can. My question is, if we don't plan on breeding our ringnecks can they live successfu...

How did you go about adopting a parrot?
I have looked on the parrot society's facebook page but all of the birds are from late 2012 - early 2013 by the looks of things.
Id love to offer another parrot a home!

Hi, I wanted to re-introduce myself as I have not been on here for a long time. (I lost my babies due to an unfortunate escape) I have 3 (soon to be 4) beautiful IR babies in an aviary. My boys/girls are semi tame but are mostly from homes where they haven't had a lot of time spent with them. I have...

Need help with new bub.
i picked up my new baby ringneck yesterday as the breeder told me he was ready to go and only on 1 feed a day. i took him for his vet check and the vet says he would be lucky to be 6 weeks and is still needing to be fed 3 -4 times daily. I contacted the breeder and she wants nothing more to do with ...

Hey guys,

Re: Hellooo
Unfortuntely there seems to be a shortage of Ringnecks in my area but thankfully no-one here is just letting them go, I have only ever seen one that was in the wild. If I was ever to breed ringnecks I would breed for quality not quantity and would only buy from a reputable breeder. I've seen all to ...

When is best time to take bird from nest?
Hi guys,
Ive found myself a blue lacewing ringneck but it is 4.5 weeks old and hasn't been taken from the nest yet. Will this bird still be friendly? The breeder says she won't take him until it's 5 weeks old.
What do you guys think?
Cheers,
Amanda

Re: Why I hate to buy pets in petshops!
That is soooo sad, i work for a pet store and there is NO WAY we would treat a bird like that!!!! We don't put ridiculous prices on our birds and the hand raised ones are handled EVERY day!! and they also have a few play gyms that they are able to hang out on!! I am an avid Bird lover and would hate...
