Dexters ( Closet Converted ) Aviary.
Ok, well this is UNDER CONSTRUCTION . I just wanted to get it together so he could atleast go ahead and get in it and out of his small bird cage. The purpose I had in mine was to have a quite large, and practical aviary for Dexter. I wanted him to have space to actually " glide " from plac...

Talking w/ your bird and training to talk
Ok, so Dexter already says Hello, and meows. And since he's moved in with me its like he knows hes in a better home and he is very happy with us. Hes a chatterbox, and tries to mimic all kinds of sounds ( He meows and laughs like my son lol ). My question is I have been only trying to say to him the...

Re: Hello ( From Ohio, USA )
The closet is vented ( It was going to be setup for my large Iguana ). I put tile down on the bottom, and I put Puppy Pads ( for puppies to use the potty on ) down on the ground. Its doing a great job catching 100% of the mess that falls on the ground. I simply throw the pad away every couple days a...

Re: Hello ( From Ohio, USA )
Yeah, this time of year it's a no go for any outside time lol. Right now its about 30 degrees and in a couple weeks it will start getting down into the teens. So, I'm sure he'd rather be indoors, warm with artificial light than freezing to death under the sun lol.

Is talking actually talking?
Lol, yea I know.. odd title. It's just a simply question though I promise... When IRNs "talk" do they understand any meaning as to WHY theyre saying why they are? Like do they actually use their " voices " as a means of communication? ie: If an IRN says " Bath Time ", o...

Petting IRN
Ok, so I've read that IRNs love to be petted and have their feathers stroked, massaged. Ive also watched videos of this. My question is my new IRN loves being held, when approached with the finger he always "steps up" and will stay on me all day if I let him. He loves walking around with m...

Dexter ( My Blue, IRN )
Took a shot of Dexter eating a Peanut with my cell ( did a little editing.. I'm a tattoo artist, so I have a natural habit of "enhancing" pics, and etc lol ) Anyways, he's about 2.5 years old. He's a Blue IRN ( Don't know about all the other sub names like teil etc ). I've had him since Sa...

Re: Hello ( From Ohio, USA )
He will have natural light when hes out in our bay window or in the cage outside when its warm enough. But, other than that it will be my lighting. A lot of animals and reptiles ( my expertise ) need the suns UV light for different reasons. This can be imitated ( though no duplicated ) through a UV(...

Re: Hello ( From Ohio, USA )
I have lighting in the closet. 1 fluorescent tube recessed in the ceiling and 2 caged lamps attached to the sides ( 1 on each side ). It is VERY well light. ( At night time I will run a black light bulb to imitate moonlight ( like I do for my reptiles.. but I do it for them for heat )

Easily trainable?
Ok, sorry to post two questions so fast, but I have to questions regarding two different things lol. The bird I got definitely needs work. He isnt aggressive at all. Hes VERY healthy and eats like a pig. ( when out / on the cage ) 90% of the time He " runs " from you when you try to get hi...

Changing a birds name..
Hello, I recently got my new buddy. A Blue Indian Ringneck, and it's love! lol My question is this: The people who had him were calling him " Blue ". I find this boring, or something youd call him if you had a flock of diff. colors lol. Anyways, we were wanting to change his name to Dexter...

Hello ( From Ohio, USA )
Hello, My name is Matt. I recently got my first Indian Ringneck ( Blue ). He is 2 years old. The people I got him from didn't give him the proper attention, but he's got a friendly personality and I think he will be easily trained. I'm not experienced when it comes to birds, though I have lots of ex...
