Violet pallid or violet pallidino
Violet pallid or violet pallidino? Hello everyone!! It's been years since I've posted anything as the recession here in the US forced me to move many times and sell off my birds. I have acquired a a few young pairs: blue/ino male with blue hen, violet male with blue pallid hen, and a pallid male wit...

Do violet hens tend to grow a darker ring than a blue? I just got a DNA DF violet hen that has a pretty dark shadow of a ring. Almost like you would see In immature male.

Good to know. Its supposed to drop to the mid 40s at night with the high in the upper 50s for the next two days, then back up to the upper 70s by Sunday. Do you think the eggs will be fine as long as she sits tight? I draped a heavy quilt over the outside of the nestbox.

Looks like my hen only laid two eggs as she did with her first clutch last year. Does this mean that she is going to average two eggs per clutch, or will she lay more next year when she is 4?

I thought a pallidino would have a dark ring coming from the beak. That ring kind of represents a lutino more than a pallidino. My lutinos would show a green sheen under certain lighting conditions, much the same way an albino will show a blue sheen.

Wow, thanks for your help! I don't think I have ever heard of anyone breeding dominant edge in this area, so I think the odds are greater for it being a cinnamon pied. Can anyone explain the difference between hillerman, AMD , and harlequin?

It almost sounds like this possible spangle mutation acts a lot like the pearl mutation in cockatiels the hen retains the pattern while most males loose most of the pattern.

She is experienced with birds, but has never had one with issues of this sort. I believe the rest of the body is in good shape, its just the tail. I must stress again, that this is not a bird she raised but one that she was given. She is just trying to get it back to normal if possible.
