Do violet hens tend to grow a darker ring than a blue? I just got a DNA DF violet hen that has a pretty dark shadow of a ring. Almost like you would see In immature male.

I thought a pallidino would have a dark ring coming from the beak. That ring kind of represents a lutino more than a pallidino. My lutinos would show a green sheen under certain lighting conditions, much the same way an albino will show a blue sheen.

The breeder is giving you incorrect information. I'm sure he does have a blue pair especially since your husband saw them. But it is impossible to get a green from 2 blues, so you are dealing with a dishonest person. You have one of two mutations... Dark green cinnamon or cinnamon olive.

you have a 50/50 split chance for male and female albinos and creaminos. If the creamino was a turquoise ino instead of a turquoise blue ino then all the babies would be visual creaminos. This is not the case as you know for sure that you have albino babies in the clutch.

Re: Mutation? please help me identify....

They look like a cinnamon green and cinnamon blue. Although there might be some discusion about the male's flight feathers not having the normal brownish tinge that you find in a cinnamon and maybe it could be a dilute. But I will stick with a cinnamon pair as my guess.

what to pair up next year

I have a turquoise pallid (lacewing) pair that is working the box. The male is turquoise blue pallid and the hen is turquoise pallid. My question is what two new mutations would you get for each if I were to split them up. I was thinking a violet or cobalt hen for the pallid cock and a gray blue cin...

Re: cinnamon violet

Hi glenn, someone told me that it is not a good idea to breed a gray with a viloet because the gr will mask a violet bird's color. I do not know for sure if this is true since I am not a genetic expert but maybe you might want to look into that.

Re: What Am I?

Im thinking Glenns most likely choice of turquoise blue is correct. Looks like it's going through a molt in this pic, and if so that pattern may soften and blend away a bit.

Re: What mutation is that?

Hi there Recio, since it is a pallid would'nt the toenails be white regardless if it is or is'nt split to cinnamon? I have two pallids and they both have white nails, just wondering if mine might be split to cinnamon as well.

Re: finally got some pics

Thank you, I moved from a house with a nice yard to an apartment. I was forced to reduce my flock to just a single pair so I decided to keep the pallids (lacewings). I will post some more pics that I took at my old house from inside my aviary which had my lutino pair and my turquoise and silver pair...

Re: What colors will i get if i breed these?

If the yellow male is not split to blue you will get all yellow split to blue male and female babies. you could then breed one of those male babies to a blue hen to get a white baby female along with yellow females and all your males waould be green split to ino and blue. You can also use a white fe...

Looks like a cobalt pallid. Most blue pallids that I have seen have a lighter shade of blue.

pearl mutation?

The other day I was at a local flea market where someone had a turquoise ringneck with almost scalloped markings across the wings and shoulders. It also had a row of dots on its tail much like my pallid turqouise does. It reminded me of a pearl cockatiel, and just the other day someone posted an ind...

First off let me start by thanking you guys on your fast reply. I am not an expert in genetics but do have enough interest to have done a little research. The reason why I was asking for a picture of the turquoise palladino is because I have a turquoise pallid hen and was thinking of pairing her wit...

Re: What can be the outcome?

If the parents of the female were yellow and blue, then the dad would have to be blue and mom yellow. Otherwise like previously mentioned if dad were lutino then all females would be lutino. Results from blue dad and lutino mom would be all green babies females split to blue and males split to ino a...
