I am not sure if he has lice or is just molting. He has just been chewing or grooming his feathers, and smaller feathers have ...

Question about Ringneck....

Soon I will be buying a Ringneck parrot from a breeder that I can trust. I just want to ask a few questions. I was thinking of making a breeding box (post) but not for breeding, for it to sleep in it if it wants to. Most of the time it will only go in there to lay eggs but If it gets cold, it can cr...

Re: Whats the (best) suitable cage for my ringneck(READ BELO

Hi Mick It's hard to make a judgement without seeing the cages. I think the sizes are ok. The second cage has the biggest volume so should offer marginally more flapping wing space. (I assumed that the first cage is 160x60x60 as the 3rd measurement wasn't given.) I think the rule of thumb with cage...

I may be getting a cockotiel, I may name it Ziggy. Ziggy and Sprout!

Michael I think you may need to learn more about the topic. By handraising a bird, you are doing all those things you describe. The person handraising the bird normally leaves seeds and fruit etc lying around and the bird will eventually start to eat it by itself. As for learning to fly, I think th...

No, I would not hand-raise them even though you know someone who does. Your proably shocked :o ; The reason I'm saying this is becuase the female Ringneck will raise them double as better. Your proably laughing . I would only raise a Ringneck if it has a problem like if the mother rejects it :o...

Re: Could I ask this question to the IRN breeder...?

Hi mick With both of our birds, the breeder did the DNA testing and then added that onto the bill. Quite often they will want to know what the sex of the chicks are too as they can then tell other prospective buyers. Rather than ask for the feathers, I would ask them if they can do the testing. How...

IMO, at 7 weeks old the chick would be barely weaned fully. I guess there could be ringies sold at that age in petshops but I personally would be avoiding buying one so young. I do not sell my babies until they are fully weaned and have been eating independently for a few weeks, sometimes that can ...
