put the male in the cage you plan to keep them in,the female in another cage keep like this for a while , the male will get to know the cage as his territory, then bring the females cage close to the males cage and let them get accustomed to one another moving the cages closer to each other as time ...

they should be ready to breed when they are 2 years old i'm in the U S so i'm not sure when it's breeding season there but it's usually very late winter to early spring when it starts here try going to ringneckrainbow.com his name is mark jones and he is in the U K

i would suggest that the partition be made from something other than wire so that the pairs can't see each other cause if one bird in a cage wants to bond with one in the other cage they can't breed and then you won't have any babies

i use 12" x12" x 24" deep boxes and pine shavings available at walmart , petco , or your local agg. center i don't use cedar shavings i was told they are toxic to birds (?) breeding season here in the states starts usually in feb. till june but can be as early as jan. and even late dec.

use a box 24 inches deep and this generally stops them from removing the nesting material and you should replace it make sure that there is enough material so the eggs don't roll around and the babies can stand and not slip on the boxes bottom and they won't develop spay leg

i don't think you can go by baby colors i had two babies that i thought were grey babies but after their first molt started showing some green feathers and turned out to be beautiful turquoise grey birds

don't have any pictures but 12"x12"x 24" deep with a 3" hole close to the top with a 1-1/4" dowel perch below the hole and a wire ladder inside the box under the hole down to about 5" from the bottom so the birds can climb up to get out and an access door near the botto...

no ! fertile eggs will have veins showing in them you need to check for fertility 10 days after hen starts to sit on them generally that is after the 3rd egg is laid

i don't think so i know that ch-ct babies will show clear tail but only the males get a clear head and not till about 2 years of age just like a ring

i would leave them together unless they seem to be fighting the female will be more aggressive than the male especially during breeding season and it is possible that she will breed at 1 year old

to keep the lavender color you would have to have another lavender bird , a cinnamon blue ,or a blue bird split for cinnamon. if you breed the violet to the lavender and get a male baby you could breed him back to his mother and keep the lavender color going

if the hen is a double factor you should be able to tell by looking at her she would be a darker shade of violet compared to a single factor it's very easy to tell the difference between the two

yes thats right if both parents were grey it's possible to get double factor grey ,single factor grey ,and blue babies and there is no way of telling the df from the sf birds without breeding them. so if the next few clutches produce all grey babies it's safe to say it'a a df bird

no not all babies will be grey,and not just males will be grey. grey is a blue series bird so over the life time of breeding a blue to a grey will produce 50 % blue and 50% grey babies

you don't have a local agriculture store a place to buy feed for horses ,or chickens and such not a pet supply store ? thats where you would find the welded wire thats sold to make cages and fence . if not the regular galvanized chicken wire will work pretty well since your planning to use it indoor...

yes stainless is best but quite expensive compared to galvanized and tho you only have 1 feed store they should have some this fencing in different wire sizing and widths in large rolls and cut the amount you need

that is normal i have several breeding pair some sleep on the perch and some sleep on the cage the only problem with cage sleepers is if they are outside birds in the winter time if it gets too cold they can get frost bite on their feet from not being able to cover them as when they sleep on a perch
