wow everyones having problems!
so sorry you lost them. its not fun to put so much work and effort into your birds to have it all undone by one angry little bird.

Re: Need Help Taming older parrots
Hi Punjabi Mr What your doing sound right. Keep associating yourself with positive experiences for them (foods the best example). It does take a long time (for older IRNs especially), that havent been tamed to understand that your not a threat. Just remember you are much bigger than they are, theref...

Re: weaning off formula
Hi wibbwebb When I was weaning my alex I had a lot of trouble getting him to eat by himself. I couldnt wean him until over 3 months. I found that bright foods, chopped up really small helped. Millet sprays were great, he would would pick them up and play and chew on them. Just helped him to test new...

Re: Blind IRN
Thanks Glenn I have clipped his wings, I believe its in his best interest at the moment. He seems to be able to see basic shapes/objects and movement. Hes even brave enough to jump short distances. But if I hold my hand still near him, he just doesnt know its there. Ive noticed his pupils are in fix...

Blind IRN
Hi people Well today I went to buy some bird seed at the bird shop and happened to spot an IRN in a cage. I knew something wasnt quite right with it so I asked what his story was. Apparently he came in with a purchase of aviary IRNs, but they noticed something was wrong and separated him. Were almos...

Re: Have you "adopted" a bird before?
Hi all, 2 of my 4 handraised inside birds are adopted, and for the most part they are great. After 2 years my adopted IRN (3 when I got him) is still a nervous boy but happy sitting on your shoulder. And my adopted Alexandrine (5 when I got her) is an amazing bird. I have to agree with Donna & E...

Hey everyone :D We have 2 ringneck parrots (among many other animals!) Abbey the Lutino, 6mths old, and Kaiser the grey 3 yrs old. We bought Kaiser as a 2 year old that had be handraised but spent most of that time in an aviary. We saw him and couldnt leave him! He is such a sweet bird, he loves por...
