so there I am in the kitchen... Gomez is having a rare moment of toddling up the kitchen work surface (he prefers his cage top) I stick my head in the fridge for about 30 seconds and turn round to find him munching on a Surimi stick/Crab stick. Now I have an abnormal thing about Sashimi/Sushi/Fish e...

Re: Drive Safely ad.....Please watch it, and dont be a hero
Even if they did there is still always one idiot who will drive, take risks, speed... even I am guilty of speeding at some point or another but after my experiences I am much more aware. My only advice is try to stick to speed limits (that includes not going TOO SLOW!) I always think it's more impor...

Re: Drive Safely ad.....Please watch it, and dont be a hero
Made my stomach tighten to see it.... these things happen so easy! I remember on my way to work one morning at 7am... a guy clips the back of my car and sets it spinning, flipped three times and I was only doing 45mph... I was lucky with whiplash... he was fine but got arrested for drunk driving, he...

Re: Help with Target clicker training
I'm glad to hear it's been working for you, you do have to be patient but it will work so just be persistent!! My bird wasn't wild about being handled but I can literally stroke him like a dog now and he coos at me... well he says "Awwwww" and climbs closer to me.... he's so cute I could e...

Re: Tap dancing....???
It's the toe tapping I'm 100% sure.... I will try film it later and post it here for others to see and make sure they can avoid this... somehow! I'm going to strip back his vitamins and feed and introduce it slowly back in to see what's causing it. Back to organic fruit and veg and then work from th...

Re: Tap dancing....???
Yes exactly that....! So it looks like they can suffer with it, looks like I better do a bit more research into his diet for him and some extra vitamins. I give him fresh veg and fruit morning and evening and he has pellets but wont touch them. He has extra seed also... do you know which lack of vit...

Re: Tap dancing....???
Well I am thinking they must do as what you describe sounds exactly as he is doing...! I did take him to the vet and he said he couldn't find anything wrong but I will try adjusting his food a little and add some supplements. Thanks for your help!

Tap dancing....???
Today Gomez started almost tap dancing... alternately slapping his feet hard on the perch and every now and then a wing twitch!? He looks healthy and of course these things always happen on a Sunday when a vet isn't open. I don't know wether it's just him being a Ringneck or maybe a reaction to mite...

Well I don't know about talking but Gomez already mimics a couple of sounds I do to him/her already, I do spend a lot of time talking to him and he's only two months old.

Re: help me..................
Depends on the dog(s) and bird.... but I wouldn't suddenly let them all out together, have it in a cage and see the dogs reaction. My dog was very excited over my bird but soon got bored especially after my IRN grabbed his nose  He lets Gomez run all over him now, being a Chihuahua most wouldn'...

Re: New ringneck, completely untame
Try the stop and pause method it works with every bird I have ever had. It will take any thing from a few hours to a couple of weeks. It's simple.... put your hand slowly in towards the bird and as the bird starts to react stop and pause, as soon as it stops reacting walk away. Only do this for 5-10...

Re: Help with Target clicker training
Hi I might be able to help, I clicker train all my animals... bird, cat, dog and currently a Magpie which I saved from the mouth of a cat! With a bird and the stick part of training it's best to start with your hand first and without a clicker.... move towards the bird until it just starts to react ...

Greetings from Holland...!
Hi all! Nice to meet you! :P I became the owner of a 6 week old IRN last week... I am happy to say that hand feeding is going very well and he/she is very very tame and very sweet! Gomez (aka GoGo) is a blue IRN and although I have had Budgies, Cockatiels this has to be the sweetest bird I've met......
