I know in my nest boxes its pretty warm even though its minus 3 outside,I was actually surprised by how warm it was.The hen knows when to go out cause its getting too warm in the box. I have my avairies covered and its quite nice in there when its freezing outside.

Petbarn sells a good egg n biscuit mix.
I make up a mix using
Egg powder
biscuits crumbs
almond meal
Handraising mix
wheetbix
cornflake crumbs
vanilla powder

There is something else in it but I will have to look when im home and not at work,I cant for the life of me think what it is.

I have a quaker that does that before she whistles,I thought she was choking :oops: Just keep an eye on it just incase, he may possibly have something wrong but it may be something else he is doing.

It could have been something on the veggies or something wrong with the veggies.Its really hard to say what happened but sometimes it happens with no signs that something is wrong.

I also have quakers,alexandrians and princess parrots as inside pets and they all seem ok. I wouldnt house them all together though.

I live near the vetafarm factory :) I use nutriblend for mine aswell as seeds and fruits and veg. My guys all seem to eat it with no problems. I think the colors of the pellets is appealing to them, just remember that the pellets will go further than seeds in that they expand in the belly so even th...

Sounds a little odd.

To put pics on use a photo site like dropshots,photobucket ect, once you have the pic on the webhosting acc copy the link and then come on here and click on the Img tab (on same bar as ont size ect) then paste your link and do the Img tab again then post.

It depends where you get your fruit from too,places like supermarkets get them frozen and once taken out of the shop temps they dont tend to last very long. If the streamers dont work a decent looking tarp and some velcro strips works well to block an entrance and that way it can be either taken down when not needed and opened easily to walk through. It worked well for us when we painted the house and the birds were up one end and the hallway was sealed...

try playing in a bowl of water with your fingers and him near by,he will hopefully become interested in what you are doing and most likely try to bathe in the water and end up having a drink. You may be able to get him to drink fruit juice if you get too worried about him.

I wouldnt, lovebirds and irns can be very aggressive when kept with their own species.

They dont always make noises,things like the weather,sunlight in the house ect have an effect on their mood and noises ect.I have 1 irn,2 alexandrians and 2 quakers in my loungeroom and they dont allways make noise at the same time but generally one or the other is talking until the lights go off.

They do it when they are fully flighted too. It gets pretty windy when there is 4 birds sitting on top of a cage all doing it at the same time.

I dont think he was sick, more resting and puffing up to be comfy. They do it a lot more when its getting colder or stormy.

Try turning off the light,dark time means roost time. I have 6 tame birds here at the moment and they all do their best to not have to go to bed. Is the bub being kept in a warm place? Try putting your finger and thumb at each side of the beak coming from above to simulate the mum feeding,just rub the beak while moving your finger on and off the beak.

Yeah ellie is 100 % correct with the feather issue.Im a bit concerned with the open wounds he may have already got an infection and need antibiotics or at the very least have them cleaned properly.

Im hopeless naming birds,I have a blue thats name is pinky.He thinks his name is pinky mika.

I took eggs from a pair and put them with a single hen.The single hen had laid her eggs and was sitting on them like she thought they would hatch.It didnt seem to bother her that there was more eggs. The other pair laid again and the egg in with the single hen hatched.

It really annoys me that his breeder doesnt want to help,some people only care about the money and not the birds. We put so much time and effort into breeding and raising our babies that we really like for people with our birds to come to us for help.

it would be itchy,if you can get a hold of some aloe vera juice mix it into some water and give him a spray.. Also its a good time for you to give him scratches all over.It will look like dandruff coming of him but thats just the feather shafts coming off which is normal..

They dont have to have fruit and veg everyday.I would start off using fruit as a taming reward,use it to bond with your bub. Dont worry im sure you will be fine.

I can honestly say I have never weighed any of mine. They drop weight to fledge ect so its hard to tell why they may have dropped or gained.
