Hello, Well, We have been here before, but it's been a REALLY long time! work, school, kids, fids, and sickness are the only excuses I have. Now recouping from surgery, and off for summer break, I have time to brag some more! Skittles is my IRN, and is just now one year old. We call her a 'she' but ...

Hello, We love Skittles so much that we are considering adding a second Indian Ringneck to our family. I know I have the time and space for 2, I want to get advice from people that have more than one bird....do they get along? do I need to keep them separated? will they not spend time with us if the...

She is starting to talk, and she definitely knows what she likes to eat! if she does not like it, she screams and throws it o...

Ok, so Skittles beak was getting a little scaly, and had part of a scab from a run in with a window, so I followed advice on this site (thank you!) and got a calcium perch for her cage. I told my husband the next morning how much better it looked in one night. He went over to her cage and said, 'o y...

skittles said her first words!
Skittles is trying to talk! We are all so exited! Yesterday I said hello to her, and she said it back! Also, when I am in the kitchen, she hollers to me, because the wall has a cut out in it and she can see me from the family room where her cage is. We have these conversations that are usually one s...

I have a question for the experienced here. Skittles ALWAYS calls for me when I leave the room. Tonight when I came home from work, I was cleaning (away from her, and with her in a closed off part of the house) and have not paid alot of attention to her. After ventilating the house, I brought her ba...

At our house, we have 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and one IRN (Skittles). The cats and one dog pretty much ignore Skittles, so she ignores them. Our boxer, Sable, has decided she likes Skittles, so we had to work hard to train her to leave Skittles alone. Apparently, now Skittles is getting back at Sabl...

I line Skittles' cage with lots of newspaper, when the bottom gets messy, I just fold up one sheet, and throw it away, there are still more sheets on the bottom! ( I usually just have to line cage once a week or so...unless she is REALLY messy!)

Right from the beginning, I started getting Skittles out to spend time with me, in fact, everyone in my family spends time with her, so she will get used to us. That is what the breeder told us to do. Of course, I am new to this, could be I am doing it all wrong, but Skittles totally loves us all now.
