Hey skyfire, you should try to use food instead of going in single handed. Use treats that your bird loves. After you figure out what food he likes you then can use that to your advantage. Use your finger to step up with the treat in your other hand and make sure he sees the treat before you try to ...

Theres more then one option ok, but i'll tell you a few.
You can buy certain perchs from the store that sand down
the nails. You can also take the bird to a pet store that clips
nails, i am sure they do it free of charge just provide your bird.

Is your bird new? When i first got my Ring Neck he/she would not move. Its going to take weeks for the bird to feel at home and as the months go by, the better it feels wen treated right. My bird hates its cage being covered and is sorta used to it by now. But yea, it used to climb all over the cage...

I snuggle with mine when watching tv etc. Usually they snuggle under the clothing and I pat them as they fall asleep. Be very lonely being stuck in a brooder with only "feeding" visititations. :) I spend more time with them as they are older and not so afraid of the big scary world. About what age ...

Budgies are more likely to get mites. When i had a budgie it got mites. I brought in a outside branch and used it as a perch, i think that is how my budgie got mites. I then treated it with a product from the local pet store..

True, he might be bluffing. Using a treat or chew toy to divert his beak and keep handling him until the bluffing settles. then introduce with the hand and no treat gradually. Just to let you know, I have always found that lutino IRN are very slender and lean naturally, just my experience. They seem to be a much slighter bird than the blue and green, especially the females. :wink: Ohh good i feel better. Something about Ani says female. I'm sending in the test kit today....

Is it the males who play with toys more. Also with mirrors, do males tend to stick like glue with a mirror and just sit there like a sitting duck? My bird is like that with mirrors, he ignores everything, then just walks to the mirror and sits for ages with his body almost pressed against it.... :?
