Re: Teaching your bird to talk ???
True every bird is unique. My suggestion is to put his cage where he is around people all the time. He says so many things at 15 months that he just cracks us up. I started a list but I only write it down if he says it more than once. Tonight I swear he said "What do you want to do". Every...

Zazu is coming out of his shell
We are so proud of him. This week he actually said hi to two visitors. Usually he just sits quiet when people come over. The other day he said Hi to my husbands surfing buddy. I thought it may have been because he is so tall and was right up there with him eye to eye. But today when my mom stopped ...

Cool. They are so cute when they start talking. I love the mumbling. They are practicing something new. I have always covered Zazu at night and in the morning he stays mellow in his cage practicing and rehearsing. It is hilarious. We had a breakthrough though. We call Zazu our talking frog because w...

Re: my new baby
My baby was clipped when I got him and I believe it helps get them to trust and rely on you. It takes quite awhile for thier wings to molt and grow in so you have some time to work with them. In the begining they always want to get back to their home so fo birdie time take him where he can't see his...

Don't rush her. Not only did her home change her family has changed. I would do the usual. Don't bug her but leave her cage open, talk softly and kindly to her a lot and eat around her offering her treats. She will come around.

My Zazu loves to talk into his food bowl, too. Sounds a little like the echo from a bathroom or something.
They are so cute.

I just can't say enough good about them. Their babies usually hatch Feb/March ish so now is a good time to talk to Pat and go see her set up if interested. I can't say I have ever seen an IRN any shop except Our Featherd Friends in San Diego. But I would much prefer the kind of raising they get from...

True Zazu is so quiet except for him murmuring and babbling..... If you are in LA and you seek a bird raised for temperment and personality I highly recommend The Beak. http://www.thebeak.net/ringnecks.html They are not in LA but they are in Alpine down here past San Diego, well worth the road trip. I got turned on to IRN's through videos and this board as I look...

toni Any parrot will benefit from a bath. If your bird is scared to death, don't force him. I take mine in the shower with me and they see me having a good time so they want to get in the water too. Another thing you could try is filling a shallow dish with clean water and set that by them and start...

Ringnecks are great. So intellegent. I think of them kida like a cat. They will take affection on thier terms. Zazu has claimed me as his so I am the one who gives him pets and scratches. If they're wings aren't clipped they can fly just fine. Having them clipped helps them to rely on you a bit more. especially in the beggining. It is personal preferance though.
