You really should yake your bird to an AVIAN veterinarian for a general health check!! It may be something as simple as
new fearther growth that is bugging him-but it also could be parasites, or an injury- Do0nt wait til he gets seriously ill!

A little belated,I know- but just saw your post and have another suggestion... get some Avicakes! Theyre made by Lefeber;most pet/bird supply places should carry them.Theyre a combo of seed and pellets in a cake form and all my birds love them-my avian vet uses the veterinary version of these to con...

Hi- congrats on you new addition, and good for you for rescuing! Here are some tips Ive learned thru experience w/my baby Bodhi... Try to give more really nutritious treats like fresh carrot, sweet potato, and dark leafy greens instead of apple or grapes-give those as occasional treat only. And a sp...

re-peaches
Peach flesh is safe but NOT the pit! A more nutririous option is fresh mango frut-my Bodhi ADORES this and it has some Vit A content which is a good thing to look for... Sue & Bodhi

Hi nil- I'm kinda new at this stuff also-but my Bodhi's breeder is a member here and told me this: a tame male can potentially be a breeder also, although it isnt ideal- if Lazaros does decide he likes the lady IRN, be prepared -he isn't going to be your usual loving buddy for awhile... and it's pos...

re-baby blue questions
Hi again- Your baby is lucky that you came along! One more thing I forgot to mention before-when I brought my blue kid Bodhi home at 9 weeks,he was supposedly weaned but as you noted the 1st few days in a new home can be a little confusing -my Bodhi wanted to be spoonfed and I obliged- but I gave hi...

Re:IRNs and other parrots
I dont know if you have already added an IRN to your "flock"-but if not, please don't unless you plan to keep each of your species in its own cage or aviary! And dont EVER put a new bird ,even same kind, into a cage/enclosure already occupied by an adult bird-that is just asking for trouble...

Hi Leo, I've not visited the msg board in many weeks,so I just now read about your ordeal with losing Tango- what a scary thing you both went through! I'm so glad you two are reunited...Tango is very lucky to have such a loving Dad! I don't think my "Bodhi" would fly away even if he could-...

Re: baby blue
If your baby was hatched early June,He/she should be weaned by about now...Is the baby eating well on own? Encourage that! Too much "babying" can have negative effects on a bird's behavior. I can't imagine how a petstore owner could not know the difference between a dove and an IRN! You go...

Anything I can do to improve relations between my IRN, Bodhi (male,6 mos) and my Eng budgie,Chipper( male,8 mos)? Bodhi detests Chip, but Chip tries to be close to him- despite Bodhi's lunges . I dont let them out at the same time anymore, but yesterday Chip was out and landed on top of Bodhi's cage...

re: apple tree branches
To the best of my knowledge, the toxic part of apples is the seeds only- Ive always understood that friutwood in general is OK to use-tho it doesn't hold up to chewing like madrone or manzanita.Just be sure of course that branches are totally pesticide-free and bug-free! I use Murphys Oil Soap dilute...

Re: travel carrier for lazaros
I use a small dog/cat carrier for car trips with my baby"Bodhi"-i have the kind that has a metal grate w/a door on the top, which i find handy- it opens up like a suitcase also. Its often called an onboard carrier since it fits under your seat on a plane trip if you take one-theyre sturdy a...

Thanks Bella & Ryelle-so nice of you to give such a quick reply! I'm relieved to hear that youve noticed the same in your kids-er. fids- and I did run Bodhi into my vet today(felt guilty for my comment about my vet expenses-I'd hand over my last dime for any of my furry or feathered posse, just ...

Wow-its so cool to see another MP- My boy "Romeo"-a rescue I took to foster about 7 yrs ago-was the 1st MP I ever saw. He also dislikes head touching and just tolerates any touching at all but steps up and is happy to be near people. I think thats pretty typicalof MPs-theyre kind of aloof ...
