My 2 year old holds Ace for the first time!
Ace jumps down to the floor to hang out with Dakota all the time. He tries to sit on her but she gets a little scared and moves away from him. WELL today she let him climb up on her and it was great!!! Nathan caught some pictures... sorry of the mess of my house, we just moved haha. http://i108.phot...

Ace Pictures to Share (LOTS!)
Just wanted to share some updated Ace pictures! He has been doing great and has really bonded to me! He is such a part of the family now... he eats with us at dinner time and waits for my 2 year old to give him food he shouldn't have Most of the time he steals off our plates anyway! http://i108.phot...

I can see where you are coming from... its having a feeling or being excited to see that ring, when you find out your bird is female. It is just like a pregnant woman with 3 male children, hoping for a girl when she finds out its a boy. It is not that you wont love that baby/bird, its not that you w...

Hello there! He is pretty young for bluffing but I have seen some info on other sites saying that it is possible for bluffing to start early. I would take leo's advice and just don't pull back or act scared when he puts his beak on you. This will lead to biting and that is what you don't want. You w...

Quiet IRN?
I keep reading about how loud IRNs are, but Ace has made noise probably about a handful of times since we got him on June 13th. If he does make a noise, its the typical IRN call, once, then stops (usually happens when we leave the room). Is it because he is young that he isn't very loud? He is just ...

Ace's first Bath!
Well, his first bath with us atleast! I am not sure if the breeder had given him any before since he was so young. Anyway, on to the cutenes! http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n25/SweetOliver/Elvis/628-6.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n25/SweetOliver/Elvis/628-4.jpg http://i108.photobucket....

Hello and welcome! Please don't get discouraged of this one bad day. How do you know tomorrow is going to be the same? Unfortunatly this is the reason why there are so many un-wanted birds, a change in behavior and instead of working through it, people give the bird up. He is probably testing his bo...

I am a meat eater but I wanted to add here that here in southern NY you don't really come across vegitarians or vegans. I wonder why that is? I was raised on meat and potatoes (irish family). I am very surprised to see so many non-animal eaters in one spot. Not saying its a bad thing, but its someth...

Give it a few days and it should settle in. Its probably just nervous and is afraid to relax on the perches. The fact that it let you give it a head rub is a great sign! At only 4 months old, with a little bit of work, I am sure it will come around! The ring I believe shows up between 18 months and ...

I just brought home Ace this friday and I have a 17 lb pug mix named Mya. She is great though, always has been gentle around birds and other animals. She is very well trained (I didnt really have to train her, it was like she just knew how to be a good dog LOL). Ace has already tried to jump on her ...

Thank you! He is male (he was sexed before I got him) and his hatch date is 4.1.08. So that makes him 2 and a half months old. His father is a gray/green and mother is a turquoise. He has a blue hue to him which he didn't have when I picked him out so it was a surprise to see him grow up! He let me ...

He is here! And a name change
I finally have my beautiful boy! Everything is great, we did re-name him Ace because my daughter couldn't say Jasper lol. I am sort of having an issue with him constantly trying to get to his cage or onto the top of my head lol. I moved his cage from the living room to the kitchen and that has helpe...

I have seen a violet one before and I was totally shocked! So beautiful! Also had a $1000 US price tag haha. I think they are all beautiful honestly. I love Green and Blue, but I also like Gray (obviously hehe). In Ace's case, I chose gray over the other two colors. It was his picture that caught my...

Birds and the heat
Well, I discovered last night, as I went to our new apartment to set up Jasper's cage, that our wonderfully newly renovated, AFFORDABLE place has NO AIR CONDITIONING! We never even thought to look because most apartments have AC, we didn't see any window units so assumed it was central air. WRONG! N...
