I have gone from 5 pets to 3 over the space of a few weeks
My old man-rat Sid passed away on 27th January and my boyfriend moved out and took Spit on the 6th February. I am no longer a bird owner

Not been around for a while
Hey guys. I keep coming and checking every so often but i haven't posted in a long time - exactly a year - yikes! A lot has changed this past year, it's almost crazy to think of lol. I have new fur-kids, and of course we still have Spit. Spit is still the same and is coming up 3 and a half years old...

Hahahaha Do you call back to him with a certain noise? or even talk to him while your still in earshot of him? After 2 years i have totally zoned out of my guys high pitched squarks - i dont even realise he is doing it half the time. My mother and brother on the other hand have to say something to h...

Oh, I have a Video of Spit doing the same thing when he was attacking me for.. wait for it... giving him a toy -.- The way he's acting in the video is VERY different to his mating display. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/ryellephoto/th_MOV00007.jpg He can get a hell of a lot worse than that...

hahahah I seriously need a video of Smokey calling 'Brreeet'. The storys you've wrote about him torturing your Brett make me laugh so bad! My Spit does the same kind of knock. If he doesn't like the food i've given him, he will empty the bowl on to the floor, then knock his beak on the empty bowl b...

Im sure i posted a reply to this a few mins ago.... Seems to be happening a lot lately... Try putting him in the cage for an hour or so each day when you are going to be home. He's associating you putting him in the cage with being left alone. You need to ignore the tantrum's that he's having. Tell ...

You need to ring the Breeder asap and TELL THEM they are doing it wrong!!! It's not only your bird they are putting in jeopardy! They could seriously harm and possibly cripple birds by clipping the wings the wrong way. Can you bird fly now that the feathers are growing back? Im actually horrified by...

Id be careful of using so many sprays around and on your bird. They spray doesn't just go on your bird, it goes in to the air surrounding the bird aswell, and i personally dont think its healthy for them to be inhaling it. Pictures will help us to determine wether it is a molt or wether its plucking...

My little guy did the same to me just before Christmas. Drove me insane! Hes more bonded to me than he is to my partner, yet i was the one getting attacked (im female, so maybe it has something do with that - considering hes attacking your wife??). It was hormonal and he went into breeding earlier t...

Update on Spit - is he going crazy?
It's been a while since i posted, so i thought id give an update. A lot has happened the past few months, and as of the past month we have been living at my mums house. We were a little worried how the animals would cope with the sudden move - more so Spit because he HATED my brother and thought he'...

Thats interesting info about the walnuts. I think though, from the amount of exercise the birds get, and the fact that Lola eat tonnes of fruit etc. that the peanut rewards wouldnt be making that much of a difference. I also gave my fid a hard boiled egg as a treat/toy the other day but he just ripp...

In a book i own, it says you should always towel your birds when you clip the wings. It takes two people to do it aswell. I'm normally the person with the scissors, because i can't keep my fid in the actual towel. The book says that a towel is essential (not only for making sure you keep all fingers...

IRNs are one of the few birds that don't bond to one person. My fid is terrified of strangers - yet he loves both me and my partner. The amount of time you spend with the parrot, and the attitude you have towards it will influence greatly how that bird is around you. Countrygal_cc's husband (from wh...

I agree with Julie. Although i think BOTH the IRNs should be getting checked out. If the first IRN got something off the Lorikeet then it would have definately passed it on to the newer IRN by now. You really need to research before you buy a bird. Your newer IRN should have been quarantined for atl...

I'm the same as Lauren and Lola. No touching my fid. The only contact is on the step-up and he prefers to step-up on the arm instead of the hand. He scratches his own head with a coconut shell though, and a loofah, and he sits with his foot on his face on a night slowly rubbing the feathers under hi...

You just reminded me. I have only ever seen one Alex in the flesh, and i took a photo of it on my old mobile because i didnt know what an Alex was at that point. hehe seagull. My fid used to scare the life out of my friends or family that came over to visit with that scream. How long ago did you get the bird? It's normally best to let them settle in for a week before you start training. Although exploring isn't so bad, could give a confidence boost - aslong ...

Youre bird is definately moulting Leo. As to wether the ring will come through or not i think you will have to wait.Im sure my fid had new head and ring feathers coming through towards the end of the moult. A lot of non-down feathers normally show the sign of a moult - although if she drops a wing f...

hehe Spit does the same as Lauren's Jibby. He comes across an ear whilst preening my hair and he runs his tongue along the upper part of my ear. It's gross, but it tickles like hell. He does test it occasionally but he hasn't bit down hard. Maybe you should stop your fid being on your shoulder all t...

WOW Spit's been in a bad mood lately. I think he no longer considers me his friend lol.
