Re: Not been around for a while

I have gone from 5 pets to 3 over the space of a few weeks :(
My old man-rat Sid passed away on 27th January :( and my boyfriend moved out and took Spit on the 6th February. I am no longer a bird owner :(

Not been around for a while

Hey guys. I keep coming and checking every so often but i haven't posted in a long time - exactly a year - yikes! A lot has changed this past year, it's almost crazy to think of lol. I have new fur-kids, and of course we still have Spit. Spit is still the same and is coming up 3 and a half years old...

I trimmed my birds wings back in August and he has been moulting some down lately, so he will probably moult soon.

Your birds feathers dont just grow long again if you trim them short. They fall out, and the bird grows a new set

Try doing a short sharp whistle, repeated, every time you go out of his view. Give it a few days and he will be doing the whistle to you to see where you are.

Its a lot easier on the ears than a shriek.

My fid has started doing the kind of whistle you use to call a dog haha!

I think if you only put him back in the cage when you go out - then hes going to know for sure that youre going out if he has to go back in. Maybe try putting him on for an hour or so during the day? Make it random though.

As for the beak, im not sure, sorry.

Id be careful of using so many sprays around and on your bird. They spray doesn't just go on your bird, it goes in to the air surrounding the bird aswell, and i personally dont think its healthy for them to be inhaling it.
