Boarding Costs?
I've had my sweet little Berry for two years now and we've developed quite a strong bond. Of course, we have our daily routines and like all fussy, bossy birdies, she knows exactly what she wants and expects things to happen exactly as they always do. I have to go out of town for a week and had to c...

Re: An Unfortunate Event with my Keyboard
Here was the solution that I came up with for keyboard pillaging:

Re: Just a smidge…too…far…to…reach!
Thanks, you guys!
Yup, those cords are usually out of reach because I don't want her to chew through but on that day, she found one.
She is making her happy nighty-night beak grinding noise now. I find it so soothing.

Re: Just a smidge…too…far…to…reach!
Hmmm, If you click "Berry being a silly clown" it doesn't work? Here's another link: http://youtu.be/mBn8EuB6MVI I've had some negative responses to the video actually. I find it strange because yes, what she is doing in the video could be dangerous, but she was supervised closely. She was...

Berry being a silly clown.
Cheesy music added for extra laughs and for those concerned, she made it through unscathed although perhaps a little grossed-out by the rather untidy floor of her own doing!
Enjoy!

Re: Welcome, Berry!
Yeah, the parrot-dog interactions around here are fodder for a lot of laughter. The first day, the dog actually "pointed" at the cage and kept looking at us quizzically as if to say, "Hey, there is a bird there. I can retrieve that for you, I am a retriever!" http://pic50.picture...

I'm a lousy photographer but at least we have evidence that she exists!

Re: how to make him stop doing what he is doing.
'don't do that' or anything like that does not appear exist in parrot mentality. Hahahahahahahahahaha! Yes, this is so true! Berry got 5 keys of the partner's laptop, one off my MacBook Air, two off my Blackberry. It's not a question of supervision, it's not a question of training, I just have to b...

Re: Is this?
I'm convinced that my Blue Berry is female. She turned one in January and only has that faint ring that many blue hens have. She does sometimes do the heart-shaped wing dance like a male and will bob her head to fake regurgitate to me. Thank goodness she has never showered me with a pre-digested bre...

Re: Treats
Berry loves apple. Berry loves blackberries but I hate the extra staining mess! Berry also loves… broken off bits of sesame seed bagels. Yes, I know…probably not the healthiest treat on the planet but the heart wants what the heart wants. :) She finally got the confidence to fly to me because I had ...

Re: Wild IRN and Alexandrine flocking together.
I'm in Canada so we get lots of little songbirds, seagulls, doves and pigeons in the city but zero parrots.
What a pleasure it must be to watch them be silly in the wild. Are the wild parakeets curious about people or do they stay away?

Re: Help
I am by no means an expert. Three months total bird ownership experience, actually. However, in this limited time frame, I saw a huge improvement in trust and behaviour between my one-year old Berry and her new flock. One pattern that I noticed was that those sudden lunge/nips were usually followed ...

Welcome, Berry!
Berry will be one year old next month. She was adopted from a family with many pets and unfortunately, due to a job shift change and a less than friendly dog in the house, they had to re-home her. She was well taken care of and is very social. She is very unlike the IRN in many posts here as she doe...
