Two new additions to our zoo
About two weeks ago we adopted a 4 and a hhalf week old crow, Ciaran. As if that wasn't enough for me to handle, yesterday we adopted a 7 day old starling, Einstein. Here are some pics. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh319/celtic_aura/Ciaran%20and%20Einstein/06_27_25.jpg http://i259.photobucket....

Gigi bird's in love!!!!!!!!
Well it seems my little fella has found the love of his life. He will sit and watch his new amour for hours and hours talking and chittering. I don't want to burst his bubble but I'm pretty sure his new love, Ciaran, our baby crow doesn't return the affection. Everytime Ciaran is outwandering around...

RIP Russel Crow
We lost one of our crows, Russell, to old age this past Wednesday. Even though he was a wild bird that wouldn't let us handle him, we still loved him and will miss him.

His head is full of pin feathers. Would I just put the aloe juice in a spray bottle and squirt him? He hates when I do that, but I do it a couple of times a day with warm water. And cranky doesn't begin to describe it! Anytime I try to open his door he lunges swings off of it and tries to eat my hand.

God, Justin, that really sucks. I lost my mother in law to lung cancer almost two years ago and my grandmother in law to breast cancer a month ago and I was with both of them until the end. All I can say is even though the brain cancer has changed who your father is, enjoy the time you have with him...

Molting Issue
Good God how long do IRNs molt for??????? Gi Gi bird has been molting for almost two months now. First it was just the little down like white fluff but now he is losing feathers and his head is all scruffy. But he's unbelievably nasty and attacks me whenever I go near. I'm hoping it's just because h...

Molting and Napping
Well, Gigi bird is really molting now. When I uncovered him this morning there were feathers all over the bottom of his cage. About 15 minutes after I uncovered him, he took a nap. This is very unusual for him. He woke up when I changed and fed him, but he's napping again. That's two naps in the two...

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you. It's horrible to lose a loved pet, especially in a way as traumatic as that. Just try to remember all the good time you had with lutino and how much love you shared with him. I know you're in a lot of pain now, but it does get better. ...

Okay, who is this nice bird and what has he done with cranky Gigi bird? LOL He just played with me in his cage! Some of his lettuce had fallen so I opened his house and grabbed it. Just for the heck of it I held it out to him. He did a little dance to it. Then I started telling him he was a silly bi...

I can harldy believe it. When I opened Gigi bird's cage to clean the fruit and veggies off the bottom, he came right over to the open door. Normally he goes on his corner perch. THEN he sat there and let me give him kisses! I actually had my head part way in the cage. It was so cool. He's really com...

Romain lettuce
So I can't remember who said that they use a clothes pin to secure some romaine lettuce to the cage to let their fid forage, but I gave it a try with Gigi bird. For about two seconds he was scared, but once he realized it was food, well! He chomped on it for about 20 minutes, chittering to himself. ...

You really, really need to get Tango to a vet ASAP. Even if it something he can't recover from, the vet may be able to give him something to help in case Tango is suffering. He could have been sick for a while and hiding it from you. But I can't stress enough how much this bird needs to be seen by a...

Molting
Well Gigi bird is starting to molt. Since this is his first molt since we've had him, I was wondering how cranky IRNs get when they are molting. I know some breeds of birds get down right nasty when molting. Others (like my crow) get very sooky and needy. And I know it can vary depending on the pers...

If you decide to adopt the little fella, you might want to find out a bit more about his past owners and how he was treated. If it was abused or mishandled then you are looking at a slightly different situation. I would still strongly suggest adopting him/her but you just want to get as much backgro...

How many of you feed your IRN pellets? And how often. And what is the tastiest kind? I have some pellets here, but Gigi bird refuses to eat them. Is there a trick to getting them to eat them? And does he really need them? I guess I'm just looking for as much information on pellets as I can get. I re...

Head Banging
I've noticed that sometimes when Gigi bird has a treat or toy in one of his feet he beats the toy repeatedly with his head. I know when he does this at night, usually along with growling, it means he's over tired and wants to be covered. But lately he's been doing it during the day and not growling....

It's weird how people think that a certain type of bird will be nasty because of the breed. Kinda how some people thing ALL pitbulls are nasty dogs and ALL Siamese cats are the devil. I think very little has to do with the breed of bird/dog/cat and more with how they are raised and how people handle...
